I'm looking to replace my Odyssey's brake pads and possibly rotors. The dealership says they're okay, but I'm hearing the telltale humming/squealing.

I've found a lot of threads on the process here, as well as a few youtube videos. So I think I can figure out the process. But I'm wondering what the recommended pads/rotors to buy are? I know that can change with time. So if you guys had to buy some pads/rotors today, which would you pick?

Direct links to where I can get them would be even better.

Thank you!

The OEM pads are extremely long lasting for most of us here. My '06 had new front pads at 30K because of a TSB and those replacements were still on the van at 166K when it got totaled with about 40% left. My '07 got new OEM pads at 90K (previous owner) and they are still in good shape at 180K. Hard to beat that.

If you are on a budget brakemotive on eBay sells quality stuff at an affordable price. I've had the pads and Rotors on my van for about a year and a half/12k miles.

Most of my driving is stop and go short trips although I've had one trip to Hilton head and another to Knoxville. They brakes work very well in all conditions and have never left me feeling scared in a sudden stop.

I recommend Akebono ProAct pads ACT1089 or the Akebono Performace Ultra Pads ASP1089. Centric Premium rotors are also great, part number 12040064. You will need two. I recommend rockauto for purchasing but they are out of stock currently on the Performance pads.

I've noticed a significant decrease in dust on the wheels - especially driven by the wife who's idea of "slow down" is to stand on the brake pedal...no real concept of "gradual" slow down :)

Nice! Yeah I've switched to ceramic on my other car, and the low dust is awesome.

I have a 2007, I have been using OEM but was not very satisfied, so I read some good reviews here on Akebono and used Akebono on my BMW before. Give it a try with cheap PartsGeeks rotors. Don't care about cheap rotors much since I'm not racing with my van and not worry about rotors crack since I never have that happen with cheap rotors in all my normal use cars. I do used more expensive rotors on my EVO that goes on track once a while.

The Akebono pads are quiet and I can feel the engagement right when I tap on the brake pedal throughout the pedal travel which I don't feel that much with the OEM pads before. It is consistent and it stops better than the OEM one but not a lot better (no I did not measure, it's by feel. It's a minivan! Not going to spent time on that). After 5K miles, no observable dust on the rims and the body.

I like the pads and most importantly, my wife likes it. It's her van.
