Twice now I have started the van and after the infotainment system starts I get an error Check Tuner when trying to listen to satellite radio. Turning off the van and letting it sit for house didn't fix this. Called text support and they had me do a factory reset the first time. After customizing many things I didn't want to do a factory reset again so I did my own test. I got the other set of keys and starting the car and everything worked fine again. I think started the car with the original set and it was also back to normal. When the error message is displayed FM/AM still work find. The Check Tuner is only for the Satellite radio.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

I get all the time, I would say 80% of the time it will go into that, I get around about hitting the home button on the wheel, and go to xm.
Very annoying, I will try resetting it today and see if it fixes it.

It happened to me again today so the reset doesn't work. So crazy. I already report it to Honda support so I plan to call them again to state it is still happening.

I actually did a test ride of an elite yesterday. The radio and cabin talk wouldn't work. They didn't know how to fix it. Kept giving some error about not being connected. Should have tried the sat radio. It was working the first few minutes but then completely stopped. The number of electronic gremlins is beginning to stack up. Has me concerned. Debating whether to buy now or wait for them to work things out. Cup holders were a disappointment as well. ANyhow, many more thoughts on it as well but these electronic issues are adding up.

It happened to me again today so I tried the home button on the steering wheel but no dice. It still says check toner. I haven't had a chance to call support again but this is crazy.

I've had this happen twice ( I'm using XM during the free trial period). Reset was the only way I've found to fix it. I don't plan to purchase a subscription to XM so I wasn't too concerned about the problem. The FM/AM still work just fine when the XM throws a "check tuner" error message. It would annoy the heck out of me if I were planning to keep the XM station, I hope they find a true fix for the issue.

FYI - XM sub costs about $30 for 5 or 6 months for the regular package, double that if you want Stern. Not bad at all. Call and threaten to cancel and that you would only renew at that price. They'll offer higher packages but in the end they'll budge. 6 months later, rinse and repeat. Been doing this since the trial expired on our '12.

I have had the 2018 for about 2 weeks now. Rides nice, but REALLY annoyed at the constant "Check Tuner" error message when trying to listen to XM radio. There is absolutely NO rhyme or reason to when the error hits and when it goes away. We rode for awhile the other day after starting the car and after 15-20 min, switch back to XM and it was working again. Other times, it will not come on at all - just the error message. Has happened at least 20+ times in 2 weeks (almost half the time I would guess). Also, have noticed other "glitches" with the entire entertainment system. USB playback is not as user friendly and we've had it glitch once or twice so far. Hope to see more info on this in the forums soon.

I have a hitch that is being installed next week and I plan to bring this up with them (along with the other things on my list). I will report back on what they say. If some has taken it in for this issue please post the results.

18 Elite had 2 weeks, just had appointment with Honda. My tech says thereis not at this time a "fix" however, this is the very first software loaded on the car. Most likely there will be a software update to correct this issue.
Subsequently on our model we had NO AUDIO connection message come up once.

If you have these issues make sure you call honda support to push this info up to them

Check Tuner on 2018 Touring

I bought a 2018 Touring 3 weeks ago. After 2-3 days the "Check Tuner" problem began showing up. The car has been in the Honda shop for the past 3 days, with no manifestation of the problem, but then again, they never tried driving it around. Yesterday I was told that Honda had not heard of this problem. Sounds like a) it is showing up in other vehicles so it's not unique to mine, and b) Honda is clueless about the cause.

UPDATE : 25 Jul 17. My local dealer called me yesterday , they need to inspect vehicle. They quoted 4 hrs to remove the infotainment screen
and insp the 280 wire connection pins on the back of the screen. Honda Corp pushed a publication to have dealers inspect for a soft pin issue (basically a poor connection between screen and vehicle) if a poor connection is found re-secure and fix, if not have to order a new infotainment from Panasonic. I am literally at the dealer now awaiting the answer. Tech note
I am a 21 year USAF aircraft mechanic. I see a lot of "wiring gremlins" not to be put out by the dealer. Also I have read / researched a lot of the tech on the Elite Ody, basically the infotainment supports the entire vehicle. Will post more after appointment. If you are experiencing this. Call your dealer if they have not contacted you
like I said Honda Corp. Has a solution.
My only fear is if it's required to be ordered is does Honda/Panasonic have these available

UPDATE 2 : 25 Jul 17. Dealer found a "soft pin"
connection loose. Dropped off 0730 / received 1030. I verified the parking lot was not obstructed ( buildings overhangs to ensure good XM signal) I started and shutoff van 3 times. No issues. Remember you will get a NO AUDIO on main dash during start up. Look over at infotainment and will see Honda symbol ( this is a startup process) then you will get the disclaimer on infotainment , hit ok to sped up or it will go out in 10-15 seconds. Will drive a week and report back. So far so good

I have mine at the dealer right now and they are saying Honda hasn't heard about this issue. What exactly do I tell them to connect it with what you say Honda found?

I am experiencing the Check tuner message with my 2018 Odyssey. The message comes up when I try to switch to Sirius XM radio which fails to come on when I start the vehicle. It was on Sirius XM when I turned the vehicle off. The problem is intermittent.

Update...

I took my van in for the wind noise issue (on passenger side - very loud almost like the window is slightly open) as well as the XM radio "Check Tuner" error message. They decided to replace the seals on the passenger door - on order. The XM radio has had the Check Tuner error msg at least 15 times in one month. No pattern at all. Will come on when switching from another source (say USB or FM) and radio will not work - even if you turn off car and start again. Park the van at night with error, wake up next morning and working fine. Drive for a few days and will randomly appear. First visit to dealer (week ago) they did the "RESET" which wipes away EVERYTHING!!! Very annoying - all settings/preferences GONE! Phone. Navigation. Favorites in Navi. ALL SETTINGS GONE! You would think Honda would develop a way to DOWNLOAD all those preferences to a USB drive or something, reset the system and THEN restore the settings. But no, 4 hours of settings GONE.

So, I didn't redo my settings yet because as I have read online, this "RESET" will NOT fix the problem - be warned - but they will want to do this as a "first" measure to solving the problem. They claim no guidance from Honda on the issue, but from reading on the forums, I think Honda corporate HAS to know by now. I gave it a month of annoyance (and time for them to figure out a solution), but this is where they are - so be warned. Took it back in Saturday and they wanted to do the same thing. I said NO. It is clear you have an issue and need to look at ALL the wire connections - not just a "reset" and send me on my way. They kept the van for 8 hours! And it was still not ready. They plan to "replace the XM tuner module from another Odyssey" - not sure if it is coming out of one on the lot or being shipped into the dealer.

They did warn me that "Honda Tech" (whoever that is) has "full discretion" on how this gets fixed. I got the impression they handle all the software/media interface "gremlins" and don't want to start pulling units and replacing them just yet. I'm sure that would get expensive real fast. My guess is this is happening to more people and they know it, but people are just not bringing it to the dealer (yet) just like I waited for 4 weeks before it just got annoying AND we have a 10 hour trip coming up in 2 weeks.

I will update as I get more info, but wanted to help out anyone suffering from this problem too.

I had mine into the shop at the dealer again they said Honda Tech support hadn't heard about this issue yet. He checked pins and everything was good. Then 2 days after leaving the shop. Check Tuner message again. Not sure why Honda can seem to understand this is an issue.

One month and two road trips with a 2018 Odyssey touring.

On first day plugged in a USB stick with music files on my way home from getting this van. This was the beginning of some weird stuff. After showing a spinning circle and displaying initializing for over 5 minutes the system locked up with random rebooting and messages displayed on screen like below,
"Network connection lost"
"Radio not working"
"Check tuner"

Even turning car off did not stop the locked up screen.
This was ongoing with random system rebooting as I drove back to Honda dealer.* Stopped as soon as I pulled up to dealership for some reason?? Not sure if it was looking for their Wi-Fi. Van notified us of a system update while I was getting the new vehicle rundown with my salesmen in dealer lot when I picked up. We accepted the update and all looked ok.

Check tuner almost consistently now at startup if left in XM when turned off

Sometimes when starting car. XM or what ever the last source will start but after a few seconds blue ray will start up and override the system even though the screen is up and RES is off. Very frustrating.

Sputtering, static Bluetooth audio playback. Very noticeable.

BT audio also will stop playback for more than a full second from time to time. Does this often.

Is it possible I'm the only one dealing with this. Took can in today for service. Left it all day. They called mid day said they Did a system reset as a first step. I said keep checking from time to time and start vehicle up to see how it behaves. They said they saw be issues. Picked up car at the end of the day. Stopped for gas and again "check tuner" back again at start up. Took it right back for them to see. They have no clue what to do at Honda. They said there's no info on this.

I've posted this as a new thread as well to see if anyone else have these issues.
