my dealer just called and give me a VIN #,
however, it starts with 5F*************** ;
I quickly try to verify and register it thru the https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com ; but I got the message that it was an Invalid VIN#.

did another search over the internet and found out that all Honda should have 'H' on the second digit.

is there any other way to verify my VIN is correct? any other site on the internet to get the breakdown of the VIN# ?

thanks a bunch for any help.

probably has something to do with it still in the build process. Don't know, just my guess.

The 5F from my understanding is the Odyssey made for the Canadian market only.
My Touring's VIN starts off with 5F also. My insurance company knew right off the bat when I got a quote that it was a Touring model, as opposed to an EX or EXL.
The number you have is probably correct.

Cheers,
Grumbo

You can't always go by what the insurance agency pulls up on your VIN....according to our VIN, the insurance says ours is a Navi...but it's only a RES.

but I still wonder why can't I register it at https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com
FYI, my canadian EX-L/RES also starts with 5F******

I tried to register at ahm-ownerlink several times but the VIN is not recognized even a month after delivery, it is probably for US models only.

BTW, all '05 Ody's start with 5FN.............

I just entered the VIN number into their system and it didn't work until I found out that it is case sensitive. Try to enter the VIN number in capital letters.

thanks a bunch folks for the responses,
I'm sure it's a valid VIN# now, so the only thing the 'ahm' registration, maybe I'll just wait.. hopefully it's not the feature for US customer only.

thanks again,

I tried one of the VIN Decoding sites and it was useless (for my '04).
According to The Book:
2HK is a Canadian mfg'd Honda van.
5FN is an Alabama mfg'd Honda van or light truck.
RL1 means Odyssey.
8 means 5-door 5-speed.
Next digit (in US) is 0=EXL Ent; 5=LX; 6=EX; 7=EXL Nav; 9=EXL.
Next is a "check digit"
Next is model year: 4=2004.
Next is Factory: H=Ontario; B=Alabama.
Then a 6-digit serial number.
Regards,
Don
