UPDATE 2 : 25 Jul 17. Dealer found a "soft pin"
connection loose. Dropped off 0730 / received 1030. I verified the parking lot was not obstructed ( buildings overhangs to ensure good XM signal) I started and shutoff van 3 times. No issues. Remember you will get a NO AUDIO on main dash during start up. Look over at infotainment and will see Honda symbol ( this is a startup process) then you will get the disclaimer on infotainment , hit ok to sped up or it will go out in 10-15 seconds. Will drive a week and report back. So far so good
I've had the "check tuner" error several times in the last week. Resolves and happens randomly...

Crystalscrap: Have you had any more "check tuner" errors after they fixed your loose connection? If not, do you how they fixed the connection (just pushed harder or replaced something"?)

Also, can anyone describe how to do a reset if the infotainment unit on a Touring model? I know based on everything here that it won't work... But j want to know how to do it so I can say that was tried and failed and hope that I won't end up with a reset anyway erasing everything.

Thanks

i have a Touring model and am experiencing the same issues. i have the 'check tuner' error about 80% of the time. i've had my car for 4 weeks now and am finally taking it into the dealer on friday to try to fix (not banking on them being able to fix it based on everyone's comments). i finally got annoyed by the issue because i don't have any access to the speakers when this happens (which means the navigation doesn't talk to me and i can't make phone calls or listen to text messages in the car). i'll update the thread after taking my car to the dealer to see what they try to do to fix the problem.

My dealer still has no clue what to do about this issue. Luckily it happened when I was there once for another issue so I could show them the issue. They checked connections and everything but the next day it did it again.

I have noticed it happens more frequently when I have been charging my iPhone using the USB port in the center console.

Please let us know if they figure something out.

I took my car in last Friday to my dealership. no luck in fixing the issue. I was going to take it back today but got a call from the dealership telling me to not bring my car in. They called Honda Tech and were informed that they know about the issue and are currently working on a solution. Not details on how long it will take to fix.

18 odyssey exl and just experienced the 'check tuner' on xm only. am/fm work. couple days before this error the whole radio shut off and could not get it to turn on while driving it. had to wait until i could shut car off completely and it rebooted and fixed itself. then the check tuner problem showed. after it was off for awhile it would fix itself and come back to xm.

Have the same check tuner problem as well as other RES issues here on this forum. Not gonna take it in yet. Waiting on the rumored software update this October...If that doesnt work, then Ill take it in. I dont want them to tear the car apart, then tell me its a software problem

I bought a 2018 Odyssey on 9/19 and Sirius worked once or twice. I went on a long road trip yesterday and saw the "Check Tuner" message. Very frustrating! So it sounds like the only fix is to replace the tuner? What is the tuner, the entire display/radio console?

I also have a 2018 EX-L Odyssey with the satellite loosing signal. The dealer had my car for three weeks and ended up replacing the amplifier unit with a remanufactured unit.....DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE.....Sirius radio technicians told me that the problem is in the radio satellite module. I am hoping to meet with a Honda factory representative soon. As you might expect, Honda tech's haven't, or won't, converse with Sirius radio tech's to solve this.......Does this sound like a territorial or power situation? I really don't care, I just want my satellite to work. If a dealer says Honda doesn't know about this they are either living in a hole or just plane lying.

Did you happen to have a phone plugged into the USB port in the center console? If so which type of phone?

No advice I just have a theory that the issue is tied to connecting a phone to the USB port in the center console.

I purchased my EX-L on 30th and 3 days back both the FM/AM and the Sirius stopped working. I get "Radio Unavailable" message for FM/AM and Check Tuner for Sirium. It doesn't work even when no phone is connected to the center console. Factory reset didn't help. I am taking it to dealer service this weekend and will update here if there is a solution.

I just wanted to update everyone on how it?s been since my dealership replaced my tuner about 8 days ago. I have had zero issues. My radio (Sirius and FM) work everytime I have gotten in my car. Absolutely no issues since they replaced my tuner. They had my car for about 3 hours to fix it. It was obviously covered under warranty (I did see the invoice and it said it was $450 to fix). Hopefully they will issue a recall for those cars that are affected. I purchased my Odyssey at the end of July (Touring) and had the Check Tuner issue about 80% of the time that I would get in the car. So happy that?s it?s finally resolved!

I have not posted about the same issue until now because they ?supposedly? figures out the issue. Prior delivery - we test drove the car and it had no issue. Then after delivery - the only thing that was done was that they put in a clip to bypass the upgraded alarm system in order to deactivate it. We drove out - 15 mins later came back to tell them that the screen was completely black and everything on the driver dash was showing ?locked? Ex: show/hide app (lock icon), etc.

The car stayed with them for almost 3 weeks, after changing the control unit and tuner assembly, the issue is supposedly gone. But what I also noticed was that the controller where the alarm is ( right hand side below dashboard of driver side) is also missing.

I?m taking it back again because something sounds loose by the infotainment dashboard, and am unhappy of how they ?fixed? the issue when in return I have scratches left on the cupboard, dashboard and vents.

The dealer could not figure out and worked with Honda Tech. Honda Tech said the amplifier unit is defective and are sending a replacement. Dealer is hoping it will fix the issue and if not, they have to continue trouble shooting and see if other parts have to be replaced. No definitive solution yet.
