Hi all
I'm new to this bear with me.
I have a 07 EXL the air was working fine except to get cold air on Driver side it had to be set to LO if you raised it up it started blowing warm . Now it has stopped blowing cold on both sides, Freon is good. Honda dealership wants me to replace the compressor. Could this just be a thermostat? Any thoughts?
Thanks

Gary

Warm air on drivers side is usually low refrigerant. So I'm guessing there was a leak somewhere. Maybe the compressor shaft seal, who knows. No one on here can tell you if the compressor is bad or not without pressure readings of the ac system. I'd get an independent mechanic to give you a second opinion and quote.

I am only guessing but there are temperature control motors that change the settings of the air flow in the ducts to vary the amount of cold versus hot air to arrive at the set temperature. I had one begin to fail and you could hear the clicking noise in the vicinity of the drivers knee inside the dashboard. It could not maintain the setting and was hunting back and forth. The unit will eventually fail and nothing but hot air comes out of the ducts. If both sides fail, you would have the condition you describe. Check all fuses as a first step.

If you have a good charge and had no previous signs of mechanical failures like noise and vibration, Get a visual on the compressor clutch engaging or not. If it's not engaging the chances are the relay or the clutch coil. You can swap the relay from another devices in the van to see if it works any different. If it makes no difference check the resistance between the 2 pins on the compressor clutch coil. If the coil has no continuity You have a bad coil. These coils have a fuse imbedded in them that blows. you really don't need a fuse in the coil and if you are handy enough you can solder them to reuse the coil fairly easily. And the replacement clutch coil is also available from Honda and aftermarket sources.

If the dealer suggested a replacement of the compressor... I'm guessing the clutch coil,
