I think they call it the Uplander, made me want to Upchuck.

I'm still amazed by the crappy looking vehicles which GM puts on the market. How do they ever get off the drawing board and make it to production?
Evidently through copious amounts of hallucinogenic drugs. And they move off the showroom floor because of massive incentives.

...and right onto the rental car lots:D !

Yes, for my money GM styling(in some cases, the word should not even be used) is the poorest on the planet. It is just so plain, in most cases, that it seems that they don't have a clue what would be appealing. Of course, the eye of the beholder..........:p

I agree the Uplander looks much too chunky up front. They are trying to catch the SUV wave by making a minivan that looks like one, at least the first 3 feet!!

The photograph just does not capture how truly awkward looking the van really is.
Exactly. The worse I've seen so far is a short-wheelbase Uplander in white (a stripper fleet car with tiny tires). GM builds the "shorties" for the Canadian market only, where they enjoyed strong sales, but the new nose is so out of proportion on the short body that I just can't comprehend anyone buying one.

Has Chevy discontinued selling the "shortie" mini van in the states?
They still did for the 2004 model year.

Yes, you guys only get the longer vans now. There is some production overlap for some reason (ie 2005 Montana and Montana SV6 are available), so previous-gen shorties might still be available for awhile.

That would be one of those generic beasts which seem only to lack a UPC (bar code) on its flank to complete the picture. :stupid:

Maybe you'll be able to buy them at Wal-Mart :stupid:

There aren't too many around down here, people are flocking to the new Odyssey and the Sienna, whereas the price-oriented guys go for DCX.

So now GM will do us the favor of introducing the Pontiac Montana.

a mediocre car for a mediocre expectation -- that's borrowed from one of Blue's quote. I rode in the Saturn version and it rocked and rolled like a truck.... Hopefully the axles don't break during the roll-over testing like the Saturn Vue....

It can't compare to the Ody!

We looked at an Uplander before we saw the Ody and let me tell you the Uplander cannot compare! (you already know that!!) At first we thought it wasn't too bad but we went to the look at the Ody after and then we realized just how crappy the Uplander really is. The dash is so plain, as are the seats (very ugly vinyl/cloth ) It felt like a boat when i test drove it too. There is no way anyone can say the Uplander is better, unless $ is the issue. Even then, the Uplander can be pricey for the top of the line model. The only thing i liked about the Uplander was the Onstar. I can't wait for our Ody to come in!!
