I have a touring 2006, almost 200k miles, start the car for few second the VSA and triangle, engine lights on. The car cranked up to 3000rp. I did the scan at autozone. P2647 is the code, I changed the rocker arm oil pressure switch, still have the same problem ..... please help me.

The P2647 code can be caused by low oil pressure (always check your oil and, if needed change it,) a clogged oil passage in the vtec assembly, a bad oil pressure switch, or a bad oil pressure solenoid. It can also be a wiring problem or a PCM problem. Without some accurate diagnostics with a plumbed in oil pressure gauge it can be difficult to accurately diagnose the problem causing this code.

I bought my van with this code present; I drained the oil (12,000 miles since previous owner's last change), spun on a new filter, then ran 3qts oil and 2qts of ATF in the engine at idle for about 15 minutes and drained (that was probably not necessary), then filled 3 qts of oil, idled another 15, drained, changed filter again, filled with oil, and no issues since.

I may have gotten lucky, but as John said above and also in the video, change the oil and see if that helps.

This is exactly what plumbing in an oil pressure gauge will tell you. Sludge in the valve train will definitely cause this code and you'll see low oil pressure at the switch. No replacement of switches or solenoids will solve it and you can waste a lot of money trying. An oil change, and even one with some ATF to clean things out, is a much cheaper thing to "try" if you're want to try something. Running ATF comes with its own inherent dangers as you can dislodge sludge that can plug up an oil passage somewhere else and cause damage so be warned about that.

I'm fighting these same symptoms as well on my 2006, but I've eliminated pretty much everything but the PSM. My problem began after I tried to bypass the security system when the car would not start in the dentists parking lot. I think I fried the PCM. BTW, I have not yet figured out where the darn thing is!

The PCM is located on the right side of the engine compartment just forward of the strut tower. It's under a black plastic cover between the strut tower and the PS reservoir.

Thanks, John.
I'll check it out in the morning. Yesterday I received an under hood suggestion but they were pointing me to a spot dead center back toward the fire wall. Needless to say it was not there.
Thanks Again,
I was beginning to get a bit frustrated.

Ok, I still have the same issue.
I took a video in slow motion while driving the 2007 3.5 touring model, and I was able to record the fault again. This time I was able to see better and count the flashes on the dashboard panel. The fault while driving came on as I was turning to the right hand lane to take an exit of the expressway going about 55 mph.

The sign logo is a triangle with an exclamation en the center.

What i got was:

1 section of flashes of 22 counts
2 section of flashes of 12 counts

I just bought my 06 odyssey exl a week ago. 132.000 miles. check engine light on, and when I'm driving the vsa and the exclamation light come on. I also got the p2647 code at autozone. are the 2 related? the engine light, the vsa light. I just changed the oil and filter. idk how long the previous owner had went without changing the oil. it was pretty dirty but not low. I'm beginning to regret the van although I love hondas and I loved my 01 odyssey.

Make sure you used a quality filter and not a cheap one. Also, make sure you used the proper grade and type of oil and that it's properly filled.

Hi John I have the same problem with VSA and I bought the oil pressure switch but when I went to install it I can't find the location as shown on YouTube on 2007 Honda odyssey touring as shown just above engine oil gauge or am I going blind. Please advise.... can you please email me the locations at okcem2017@gmail.com
The 2007 Touring has the spool valve on the rear drivers side engine head. The oil pressure sensor switch is part# 37260-PZA-003. Does your vehicle have the P2647 trouble code?

I'd recommend just replacing the entire assembly. The gaskets between the two halves leak, the solenoids fail and the plunger inside can stick, as well. You might fix it with just the switch but if not, you have wasted money on the switch.

Good advice. Especially on a 17 year old vehicle. But man these things are ridiculously over priced and you don’t wanna buy some off-the-wall brand.

Even more from Honda. Buy once, cry once. The price hurts once and then, after that, when you're not still fixing it, you're enjoying it. Just buy the right part, from the right place, and repair it once and be done.

Most people don't actually diagnose the failure and conclude with 100% accuracy that it's the switch itself, or the solenoid, or something else. If you're 100% sure the switch itself is bad, it's not leaking, and you have no other issues, then I'd probably do it. When vehicles have both a front and rear spool valve I've been known to swap them to confirm. However, with them leaking so often and the gaskets not being available (the aftermarket ones that are available don't last) it's best to just replace the entire valve assembly and be done.
