Yesterday, I ordered from ATT a ZTE Mobley to use as a hot spot in my van. I added that to my unlimited data plan so the kid can watch anything he wants on his iPad, iPhone or laptop. Much better than the RES that comes with the higher trims. the cost of the ZTE mobley is $99.00 and the plan is $20.00 per month if you have ATT with a qualifying data plan. I am already using a WIFI hotspot on my 2017 Honda Pilot and it works wonders. Additionally, you can watch NETFLIX, HULU, Stream videos etc. Who needs a DVD? Have you check NETFLIX lately? How about video streaming for the latest movies that you could buy or rent right there and there. Here is the link if you are interested in something like that. No need to spend a lot of money in gimmickry that's bound to malfunction.

If you don't have an ATT plan, there are other stand alone plans. This is much better than getting a van with a WIFI installed and that you cannot use in other cars lacking it. And no, I don't work for ATT, I just find this cool to have in your car and resolving a first world problem.

Why do you need to buy s moblley when for $10 you can add your vehicle as a hot-spot? Then you can still access all the items you mentioned. Is it because you can use the mobley on other vehicles?

Thanks drw1926. Now I understand.
Perhaps you can help me with the ATT options. Apparently I can add the hotspot for $10 per month to my existing data plan, or I can pay $20 per month for an unlimited plan??? (I think). Or, I can just sign up for the free 3gig plan for up to three months. I guess I should sign up for the free trial but I'm confused if I then need to pay $10 for the "hotspot" plus $20 for the unlimited data?? It's not clear to me.

The hotspot (in Elite/Touring) is there regardless of whether you pay for data, but without a data subscription all the hotspot does to allow attached devices to communicate with each other, for example games that can be played over a local network and do not require an Internet connection work with this arrangement. But for anything requiring an Internet connection, a data subscription is needed to have that up-link. The cost is $20/month including taxes. I have had it since last July.

AT&T no long allows you to add a hot spot to an existing unlimited data plan. They ended that option several months ago. I spent an hour at At&t yesterday trying to do it.

The internal hotspot network is in all trims. I have an EX-L NAV/RES and you can turn on the hotspot which basically just acts as a local wifi network. You can technically tether your phone's LTE data and set up your phone as a wifi network the Odyssey will connect to, and then you can share your phone's data with all devices connected to the Odyssey hotspot, but then you just cut out the middle man and connect those devices straight the phone.

How do you connect the ex-l hotspot to use your phone for data?
