What is the threshold below which the tire pressure monitoring will go off? And is the level pre-set at a particular pressure? In other words does the car accept 34psi (as an example) as normal and anything below 30psi triggers a warning…or is there someway to set your “normal” pressure and a percentage deviation from your set “normal” will trigger an alarm?

The reason I ask is that with my BMW I can set any tire pressure as “normal” and then if a particular tire pressure deviates too far below that level…I get an alarm. The BMW system I believe is less sophisticated than that of the Honda system though…I say that because the BMW it is simply measuring tire revolution and I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) the Honda system is actually monitoring the pressure.

TIA for your responses

Chris

I am not sure when the alarm goes off but I do understand how it works...
On each tire you have a value steam. Inside the tire on the other side of each value steam you have a sensor.
On each wheel cyl you have a receive that tells the computer the tire pressure.
Once the tire pressure goes below a certain point the alarm goes off.
Therefore, even if you rotate your tires the computer still knows which tire is which.

Once it gets 25% below "normal", the alarm is suppose to go off.
And I think this is the difference from less sophisticated systems used in the BMW or the Sienna. On those units, you hit a reset button to tell the vehicle what normal is, otherwise it has no idea. Our Ody doesn't need a reset button.

The Ody reads the actual tire pressure all the time. The tire pressure can be checked by you whenever you want, and you will recieve notification through the MID if the tire pressure is below normal.

Thanks for all the responses...I just looked on the door sticker and I see that the correct pressure is 35 rear and 32 front...I'll check mine in the morning manually curious what they are at right now...of course we know they cant be too far off or I would be receiving a warning

The less sophisticated systems actually only monitor differences in tire pressure and alert only if a significant difference is detected, comparing the tires to one another on each axle. They don't report the actual PSI, either. Therefore, you could have two or four seriously underinflated tires and never get a warning.

I assume that was a typo re the front which is 33 on the Touring. If you haven't already, also match your TPMS readings to external readings you take the old-fashioned way, just to make sure the calibration is correct.
