I have Honda Odyssey 2011 touring. I want to burn movies from my personal library to dvds so that i can play them during road trip. I have tried various software and wasted numerous dvds only to realize none them is working. I have read through some of the old forum posts and even kept the burning speed to bare minimum (4x). I am using Verbatim DVD+R.

Question is, what is the best software to burn personal media to dvds so that i can be played in odyssey? What kind of settings for that particular software.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't burned a DVD in years, but you might try DVD-R (i.e. minus, rather than plus) media and see if that makes a difference. I haven't tried any burned DVDs in my van but it was just a thought. But whatever you do, don't waste your money on DVD-RWs. Re-writables are waste of time and frustration.

I use DVD-R disks on our 2014 without issues. Might want to try the -R disks as the +R might be the issue.

For OP, I burn all my DVDs and Blurays to a DVD for several reasons:
1. If it gets scratched or stolen I don't care, just burn another one.
2. Only way to get the Blu-rays to work on the Odyssey.
3. The big/main reason is to remove all the junk on the disk and get just the movie. In other words no messing around with the menus, insert and play!

My 2016 SE doesn't seem to like burnt DVDs. I burn them onto DVD-R, DVDFab compresses them and makes an .ISO for me to burn to the new disk.

It spits the DVD out towards the end of the Movie. If I put it back in and go to where it left off I can finish the movie, but sometimes I have to do that 2 or 3 times.

I've tried copying them in a number of different ways. Maybe its the type of DVD-R's I have? Maybe I'm filling them too full and the odyssey can read the edges of a single layer disc?

Why not just bring the "personal library of DVDs" with you instead of burning a copy of those "personal DVDs"? Isn't that THE EXACT same thing?
No, it's NOT THE SAME, as you put it. I buy DVD's and Bluray's and they immediately go into storage after ripping them. I don't want to bring my masters anywhere. I want to use the copy.

To the OP's original question. It probably won't play burned discs for the same reason, some CD players back in the day wouldn't play burned CD's. They aren't burned the same way as a commercial disc, known as a Red Book CD. There could be a way around it with DVD's/Bluray's, but not that I've found. I ended up going the Firestick route and hotspot. I'd like to have a local copy though.

Has anybody successfully created their own discs for the newer Odyssey? Can I just throw some movies and videos as mp4 files and play it on the player?

I don't want to use a USB drive because I need the port for my Apple Play.

mp4 format won't work. Most DVD players aren't setup to read other encodes other than your standard VOB/TS files.
