Steering wheel shimmy on highway

I am at whits end with this shimmy/vibration of the steering wheel on the highway at about 70MPH +. This is what has been done recently: New OEM motor mounts, new cardone CV axles, new Duralast Gold rotors and pads. Approximately one years ago: New tires Continental Contact LS, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar links, CV axles, KYB quick struts, and new rotor and pads. . I had no problems a year ago until I rotated the tires and a slight shimmy came about. Since I have the tires balanced a million times to no resolve and then I did the additional work I listed earlier. The tires have even been balanced on the car. That reduced the shimmy a little but it is still there. I have read other posts about this to no resolve. Some say get a match mount and road force balance, as a tire might be out of round but the chances that so many Odyssey owners that experience this issue, also have out of round tires is just unlikely. Has anyone got the golden answer to this infuriating mystery?????????????

Aftermarket CV axles are always a wild card. If you have aftermarket axles and a vibration, that should be one of your first suspects.

A tire with a bad belt can cause vibration. Rotate front to back.

Does vibration come and go? Does it vibrate when the van is cold, as sometimes a dragging brake can cause excess heat, rotor warping, and vibration. When it starts to vibrate pull over and check for an extra hot wheel.

How is your alignment?

I had a pretty good shimmy at speed in my Ody and I replaced most of the front suspension and bought new tires. That fixed it, but I don't really which part did it, lol.
Yeah Ive done that before too but it is back and now Im thinking its either out of round tires or maybe the cardone axles. Not sure

UPDATE: On a long road trip and got a chance to sit in the back. Realized I even feel some vibration in my seat in the second row. Starting to lean toward an out of round tire or bad belt. I also noticed while driving 70 plus under load I felt it more. I let off the gas and it reduced but does not go away completely. It seems better at 85+ but definitely not butter smooth.

I have had tires with a bad belt a few times on various Odys. I may have gone too long between rotations and the rear tire would develop the out-of-round bump, normally toward the inside of the tread. Then when I rotated to the front, I felt it.

The first time it happened I put it on a lift and turned the tire and it all seemed good. Then I asked someone else and he put his hand across the tire and closed his eyes and spun it slowly and found it. Then I could find it. It was subtle.

Now when I rotate, I roll the tires to see if they roll straight or wobble.

Ok, so the latest is that I used the GoPro to check out if there was any wobble in the axles and as I far as I could tell they looked pretty smooth to me. I did notice my LCA bushings need replacing though and ball joints. I do not know if that will do it or not because the vibrating is affected more by pressing the gas as opposed to coasting. Usually this is an axle issue but again they look smooth running. Ive had brand new Timken wheel bearings sitting in the tool box for a while now and im not sure that will help any either, as there is no indicating noises from the front that they are bad. Its all just a mystery.

FINALLLY!!!!!! I bought brand new OEM Honda axles and it is a night and day difference. Took a long time for me to breakdown and finally pull the plug on the OEM's but it is well worth it. Simply holding and looking at them, you can easily see the difference in quality. While going through this ordeal, I experimented with a go pro camera and saw nothing with the axles. Then one day I simply got on the ground and tugged back and forth on the aftermarket axles and the back-and-forth play was surprising. So I would advise you do this check as well. The Honda OEM axles on there now have no play. I will never purchase an aftermarket axle again for my vehicles...Only OEM

Really is a crapshoot with those things. My Ody is running on aftermarket axles on both sides and drives smooth as butter while others have experiences like yours.

Its like WiiMaster said it is really a crapshoot from what I have learned. Interestingly, the cardones are the ones i just took off that had way too much back and forth play. But that doesnt mean that the next guy can buy some cardones and they wont work perfectly for him. The only thing i really learned is after you have them installed and on the ground, give them a tug back and forth toward the transmission and away. If they have play, then you know what the deal is

So we are two years or so out from when I initially posted about my steering wheel shake. After replacing the axles to OEM the difference was enough to be satisfied but with time I have realized that although much better, the steering wheel shake is not gone.
Recently, I have had four new tires that have been balanced over and over and even road force balanced. The road force variation was within range. New LCA‘s installed, new sway bar links, new pads and rotors. Still I have a vibration at over 60. It is less than at times in the past but still present. My steering rack needs to be resealed, wheel bearings are original at 196,000 but make no noise, motor mounts have been replaced a little over a year ago with OEM, tie rods are moog and replaced about 3.5 years ago. No VCM(J35A6).
After three two re-balances I was told that three rims are bent. Now is that a story to stop me from coming back…maybe. So took it to get road force balance to see if it would pick up run out from the rim. Supposedly being bent. The balance came back with no force variation and a clean balance. Sooooo where to now guys. Been dealing with this mystery for years

Was your intermediate shaft on the passenger side replaced?

Checked your motor mounts?

I was thinking about intermediate shaft and due to its age I definitely think it’s worth replacing but, if this is the issue wouldn’t the steering wheel shake be prevalent when on power and not much at all when off power and coasting? Also how do I get a video up to show the steering shake?

This is the type of steering wheel shake I get now. One thing I noticed after putting the new tires on is the steering wheel shake occurrs whether on throttle cruising or off throttle coasting at highway speeds. Before with the older tires The steering wheel shake occurred only during on throttle cruising on the highway. So I have new lower control arms with new stabilizer bar links because I noticed the boots were torn and what I get is what you see in the video below

Yeah I don't really see anything there. And I've seen what steering wheel vibration looks like.

Also please keep in mind that when I originally posted this thread A couple years ago my steering vibrations was much more apparent and this is where I am at right now. Again, enlarge the video to full screen and view the bottom part of the steering wheel. It is moving in a relatively quick left to right movements.

Yes they were aftermarket moogs and thats exactly why I paid it no mind because you would think that they would last a lot longer than they did. A matter of fact not long after I installed them I rotated my tires and very slight vibrations entered the wheel. Over time as I rotated the tires several times it progressed.
Unfortunately I did not put OEM tie rods in because I was in a time crunch. Autozone duralast had to do the job for now. I’ll let them run their course and see how they manage. If they do a marginal job longevity wise I’ll just trade them out for new ones. That’s what I do with my Brakes. Every two or so years I take them off and take them back to autozone and they give me new ones free.
