Figured this may help someone who's on the fence with these units. Upgraded the radio. Best 150 bucks I spent in a long time. Still have to wire in the backup cam and sort the steering wheel control wires but the crazy part is those $139.00 2gb/32gb Amazon specials really do work. It boots up immediately, FM radio starts right up, Waze, Pandora, all work well, really nothing to complain about. Here's the link.

Says on AMZ that iOS functions only one way while android both ways. If I understood that better I could determine if my iphone iOS worked acceptably with this unit?

Idk, I have a Samsung Note 20 that I use to tether signal and then let the unit run the apps like Waze. Pandora, etc on its own. I'd message the seller on Amazon and ask. If not I believe you can find similar units that have Android Auto and Apple Car Play for like $75 more.

Nice job! Shame the 2014 EX_L can't take a radio mod, but, maybe someday someone will figure it out! doubtful, tho

Any trouble fitting it into the aftermarket double din adapter? I'm afraid of these bigger than 7" screens not fitting unless they are adjustable. I had a 10" Android unit that I tried to install in my old Toyota and the screen got in the way of the AC controls. I had to get a different model that allowed me to adjust the screen position floating over the dash.

I did an Eonon for my 2011 Silverado. It took about 10-15 secs to boot but it was a nice upgrade over stock.

Fits perfectly. Also the radio itself is mainly a screen with not much behind it, maybe 3" depth. Lots'a room back there now.

No need to spend more money on an adjustable screen. The stock angle of the trim kit works fine.

Here's some pics. Hope that helps.

This thing boots up almost immediately.
that's pretty legit
It's a feature of some of the current generation Android units from some brands like Atoto and Teyes.
It doesn't actually "boot instantly", more like it goes into standby like a phone or tablet. They call the feature "instant on", and it carries some residual battery usage while the unit is off to achieve this. The good ones make sure the power used is minimal (I mean, even the OEM radio carries some residual battery usage while "off" to keep time, etc), and I know Atoto has a feature where it will actually power itself off completely if not turned on after 72 hours in order to prevent running down your car battery.
When booting from cold (after leaving for a while, choosing to power down or turning off the "instant on" feature in settings), my Atoto S8 Ultra (2nd gen) will take something like 15 seconds to boot, so that sounds about right.

No Android device cold bots immediately, but check if your Eonon has an instant on feature, maybe it was disabled for battery preservation.

Meanwhile @Mxracer that seems pretty solid re: fit! The issue is that yours looks like it starts on the bottom and goes higher, the 10" off-brand Android I got to try from a friend has the 2 din start in the center, so it expands both up and down and on my Toyota is clashed with the AC controls. I'd have to get either the exact one you have to make sure it lines up on the bottom or get one that adjusts. Or just go with a 7", which is what I'm leaning towards now anyway.

The dash to me looks to me like a 3rd Gen 2005-2010.

Oh snap, that's only two out of five plugs, did everything work after that? I'm not sure what all the plugs do, and didn't want to mess stuff up. I figured one is the main harness with speakers, power, ground, and another the antenna, but the other 3 trip me out.

"8core 32/64gb 50watt units", that's a whole computer lol. Thanks for the advice.
