Hey gang,
Not my Odyssey but checking for owner...as title states >> If door left open, will system auto shut-off dome/ interior lights after designated time ??
I assume so but battery was drained the other day and upon recharging noticed the passenger door was NOT shut 100% / lights immediately on....being this (potentially) and the famous door latch issue already taxed the battery I'm asking here instead of taxing it more by intentionally leaving open for several minutes to find out.... (I have fuse #7 removed on sliding latch issue (until I get around to repair) so that is no longer draining battery.)

I saw this post just now, and tried on my 2006 EX-L. left driver door ajar, all interior lights came on, after about five munites, for sure less than 10 minutes, all lights were off. I pressed door switch then all lights came on again.

Great to hear.
Because nothing turns off in our 2008 touring.
Dome, Maps, Trunk, Doors, Headlights, zero, nada.
Yet recall grandpas Ody lights timed out if kids left on. At least all interiors.
Perhaps I have a defective van. Or a defective operator.

Please don't tell me it is in the settings menu. ? ? ?

Yeah, I tested this last night on my '06 EXL-RES last night also. Looks like I didn't wait long enough. I only left it for around 5 mins. Thanks for doing the test, good to know.

The interior lights on my '07 Touring will turn off after some time except for dome and map lights manually turned on.

About 10 months ago I was working on the right sliding door, so I turned the interior lights off with the switch on the dash to be safe. When done I was surprised to find the battery was discharged, so it probably has to do with both sliding doors and the hatch being open for hours. I recharged the battery and have had no problem since.

I think it depends on why the light is on... if the light is turned on by the switch on the light itself, the only way it turns off is if you switch it off, either on the light itself of the master switch.

But if the light turns on because a door is opened, it will turn off again after a few minutes if the door is left open.

It can be a problem if a kid in the back seat turns on his light during a trip, and you don't notice. I have owned early and late 3rd gen models and I think they both act the same way. This is off of memory, though...

If the door is ajar or open, the curtesy light on the door remains on. Speaking from experience. At least the LED replacement bulb I installed did not drain the battery overnight.

I have to test all parameters now. Argh
But I don't.

As posted, our experience is nothing automatically times out, when any interior lights left on, then doors locks.

But we never leave the door open, not closed fully, nor not locked, so, . . .
That time out is irrelevant to most.

I experienced the older model ody interior lights time out, with door locked fwiw.
When a kid left a dome light on. It would time out / turn off.

I can tell you with certainty, that does not happen now on our van.
The neighbor, hundreds feet away, calls us, many times, your light is on, duh.
Like for 2 -19 hours, the lights have been on.
I wish our van lights timed out.

Is it in the weird settings menu?
Is it an obscure setting , or in a menu, layers down, untouchable, unobtainable, as my new cell phone menus? o_O

Oh wait, I have a 3rd gen, those crazy menu layers, like a cell phone, are only on later models.

Did I tell you how much I love my 3rd gen Ody?
For sooo many reasons?
Well, I do.

On my ‘06, if any light is manually turned on it never times out. My battery died a couple of weeks ago after not driving it for 3 days. I charged it up and it worked fine. Left it for 2 days and battery read 11.4V. Thought the battery was on was on its way out so I replaced it with a Costco Kirkland. Next morning I checked the voltage and it read 12.2V. Thought it was a low charge so I charged it up again. Next morning, 12.2V again, charged it again... Long story short, someone manually turned on a second row light and it was on non stop for over 3 weeks (remember hearing someone press it at that time). Only way I found out was I opened the garage door late at night and noticed a light on inside the van.

Lights not timing out is a huge oversight on Honda’s part IMO.

Interior light switch- Always on/Auto/Always off.

That has been my experience, except the curtesy light on the bottom of the door stays on.
You can switch to LED and minimize the drain.:)
