Alrighty, guys, picked up a 05 EX today with 153 K miles. Will be asking a lot of questions in the coming days. Today, I want to ask two:

1. Does Honda produce/provide an authoritative guide for repairing the Ody's? I owned a few Chrysler vehicles. They made available a guide called Factory Service Manual--shortened as FSM. It is the bible for maintaining or repairing their vehicles. I wonder if Honda has something similar?

2. Chrysler also makes available a build sheet for all their vehicles. You go to a web site, plug in the VIN, and voila, there is a detailed run down of all the build details of your vehicle. Is there something equivalent in Honda?

My first two questions for the the new, used vehicle. Thanks!

Welcome.
1 - "factory repair manual" could be "obtained" by searching internet - some are available in CD form, others - as downloads. Prices vary drastically. Alldata (I think) sells you subscription on monthly/yearly basis.
2 - Are you talking about list of options/equipment for a specific (yours) vehicle or a parts catalog for specific model and year? If parts catalog - Honda doesn't release it to mere mortals. Some sites, that sell Honda parts, do have diagrams, but that a pathetic attempt to please us and looks like a spit in out faces.

1: It has been posted a few times here for download. Do a search and you can find it. You can also get the real thing digitally from Honda at techinfo.honda.com. It's a subscription service that gives you access to service info for all their vehicles, it's not just one. And you can download things to keep if you want. It's $24 or so for one day access, with some other prices for a month and a year.

2: Honda doesn't do custom builds, so all you really need is the VIN number and the VIN decoder stickied in this forum. That will tell you your trim level, and from there you can find information about it either in my used 3rd gen buyer's guide sticky (which you should read anyway):

That covers information about all the different trim levels.

Or you can find information about it in a vehicle brochure which I'm sure is available online somewhere.

Thx for the info, guys! I did a quick search here in the sub-forum of 05 to 10. No downloadable links found. Not surprising, considering those links are probably not allowed anyways. I then followed the suggestion of HELM. Went to their site, plugged in my year, but NO service manual found there! They have manuals for a bunch of other stuff like body repair or electrical troubleshooting, but not the service manual I am looking for. Has anyone checked HELM on 3rd gen? If everything fails, I might buy a hard copy from eBay.

Oh the links are definitely allowed here, that's where I got mine. Check your PMs, I'll send you the download link.

Correction. Will be searching and asking questions in the EXISTING threads in the coming days is what you meant. ;)

try this: Dropbox
it contains models from 1999 through 2004 - don't mix up the instructions, as they vary from year to year, even the orientation of the looking alike part(s).
