Rear USB Charging Install

I'm looking into grafting some rear seat accessible charging ports to my 2016 EX-L. Anyone gone through this before and can offer some pointers like suggested install points, considerations for wire access to tap into, etc.? I do have experience with wring, installed stereos, back-up cameras, etc.

The ideal set up is to add two total ports, one on each side of the car in the somewhere above the door switch to open/shut each door just behind each front seat. My guess is the rear cigarette lighter thing in the cargo area would be the best option for tapping into. I suppose the question I should be asking first is, could that (or any) existing accessory line power four devices being charged without overly straining the circuit?

Or is the better option to lose the rear plug and instead reroute so it's powering/charging just two USB devices?

3rd row seating or 2nd row?

a good option is one of these available on amazon.

you're best off using the drivers side, and running the wires behind the panel to the rear fuse box.

My choice would be the AC inverter, and a 5 amp fuse for the USB outlet.

There are multiple options there for battery or battery switched power that you can tap into, or use an add a circuit fuse tap like this, also on amazon.

Thanks all, good information here and some good parts to consider.

My ideal location is something accessible to the second row, near the open/close switch for the sliding doors just behind each front seat. The alternative is in the back seat area where I think the factory A/V hookups would be if we had the TVs.

The math involved with amps/wattage/etc. isn't my strong suit (there's a reason I struggled when I had to take electrical engineering classes lol) but I'm really just looking for a "standard" charging speed - I don't care much about being able to fast charge with just phones or not too powerful tablets to hook up.

There is a feller on here who did a post with a 3d printed one on the B pillar.

That above usb port would do just fine and mount to the plastic just swell I would think, might need to swap the self tapper for a nut and bolt with washers to make it sturdy.

Since most of its profile is on the outside. only the wire and mounting hardware would go through a hole in the plastic panel.

power feed would likely be down the B pillar under the drivers and passenger side threshold kick panel to the fuse box on the drivers and passenger wired in, using an add a circuit fuse.

Hah that was the original route but we've had way too many lost cables that mysteriously go walking out of the car.

Thanks other dude for the tip about someone else who did this. Got some searching to do...
