You're totally welcome, Mommyvan! I like to spread the word when I find something that makes having a toddler easier. ;)

My husband takes our 3 year old into the men's room when necessary too. My only fear about a man going in to the ladies' room would be that a not-so-understanding woman might accuse him of being a peeping tom who's using his daughter as an "excuse" to peep, kwim? I'd hate to see a man get into trouble just because he was trying to take care of his daughter. Maybe give a shout first to see if it's empty - like the male janitors do?
That would be my only fear too. I'd tell my husband to open the door slightly, give a shout ("I need to bring my daughter in here") and then walk in. I just asked my husband what he would do, and he said that he never even considered the possibility of going into the ladies' restroom. If really necessary, he'd do what I just suggested.

I always thought that you took whatever sex child into the restroom that you go in. I take my 5 yr old son in the ladies with me, and stand outside while he's in the stall. I don't trust him or strangers in the men's room by himself. Now when hubby is with our 2 yr old girl, he'll take her in the men's room to change her diaper, but that's always hoping they have one of those tables. If not, he uses a changing room at a store, or even the van.

As a father of two girls, 4 and 2 yr olds, I would prefer not to venture into the ladies room with them. My options would be to take them into the mens restroom or go back to the minivan to use the potty.

In most cases going back to the minivan would be the best for me. It's probably the most sanitary way to take them and more convenient. Plus, I'd rather not have my girls seeing other men in front of urinals and doing their business in the restroom.

I have taken them to the mens restroom in the past and I felt bad for rushing them in and out of the restroom.

we have the "travel potty" linked to above in the back of our wagon, withe a full supply of plastic shopping bags and wipes handy. It is a great product when a young one is training. We have never used it under way, only at rest and usually outside of the car on the ground. We also have a full-sized portapotti from my sailboat, but have never used it in the car, only the boat.

We have the portipotti linked to at the Walmart site. But it's for the whole family to use when we camp in the popup camper.

I don't recommend it. It has a lousy dumping system. If you want a toilet with a nice odor-free holding tank and flush/rinsh function with an easy, NEAT dump spout, go to an RV dealer and get a Thetford 135 portipotti. Very nice product.

Taking a girl into the men's restroom has another pitfall. I suspect the seats in men's rooms are often much less sanitary than in women's rooms. At least DS can stand for half of his restroom needs... Darn those inconsiderate men who never put the seat up...
