Multipurpose camera

We have a 2018 Elite. Great car. A couple weeks ago got multiple warnings. ACC, auto brights, etc. Maybe 10 warnings every time we start it up. ok it in and dealer says multipurpose camera behind rear view mirror is bad. $1,800 fix.
Seems high but I don’t know of any alternatives. Any thoughts or advice???

I do want the features to all work.

Even if you bought the camera and installed it yourself, Honda would have to align the camera for it to work right. Honda- they have you coming and going. :rolleyes:

I had my 2018 EX windshield replaced and the glass company aligned the camera perfectly.
This was at Freddy's Auto Glass in Waco TX, a non-chain independent. Insurance glass rider paid the entire $1200 cost.

Had this issue occur in May, the dealer wanted about what you quoted to fix. I never fixed it. Then it all of the sudden started working again in September for a couple weeks, then it failed again. I sent a complaint to nhtsa after seeing a number of failures on the 2018. Whether or not it qualifies as a safety concern may be subjective, but when contacting Honda they did not want to help.

Add us to the list of 2018 Odysseys with this problem! This should absolutely be a recall! They recalled the rear camera (and ours was working just fine)

I just reported this. This is a major safety concern.

Thanks for your suggestion! I just opened a report at the given NHTSA link.

July 2024, just had the multipurpose windshield camera replaced on my 44k mi 2019 Odyssey EX-L for ~$2.1k in Santa Clara county, CA.

I had many of those sensor lights on (e. g. ACC, lane assist, collision mitigation) and saw many comments on a YouTube video (Honda Odyssey Warning Lights Bonanza Get Ready to PAY). Took it to the dealership and gotcha, this was the problem and the very expensive fix.

Hopefully NHTSA will investigate it if more people share their concerns; maybe we will get a recall from that.
