I just bought an 06 EX-L, DVD, NAV for my wife. This is my first Honda and in general I like the vehicle very much but there are a few things that I am very disappointed in. Specifically I am talking about the lack of automatic headlights and automatically locking doors.

The last several vehicles we have owned have had both and my wife has grown accustomed to them. I am disappointed that $35K+ vehicle doesn't have these basic features. How difficult/expensive would it have been to add these. The touring has them, but I didn't want the touring. A friend has one and he has a horror story about those run flat tires...

OK enough rambling. Can the parts be purchased to add these features to an EX-L. I want Honda parts if possible.

If you bought a Canadian Odyssey, you wouldn't have that problem! :stupid:

But have you contacted your Honda dealer yet?

Having to buy a "foreign" model seems like a lot of trouble to get basic options.

I contacted the parts department and did not find intelligent life... Perhaps I will try another dealer...

Actually a friend has an 05 touring and it has lights and locks.

Leaving the lights on has other side effects like not being able to see the NAV screen in daylight. Yes I can fiddled with the gage brightness, but it is easier to turn the lights off.

My insurance gives a discount for DRL, but not if I "promise" to leave my lights on.

Not having auto locks was a definite turnoff with my 05 Pilot which I sold to get a 07 Oddy EXL NAV-RES. I was ecstatic to find out I had the auto locking doors when I took the van home. Even the salesman did not know this new feature. He said it was only available on the touring model.

DRL for 07 US Odyssey

I've scanned the entries on this topic and one link I could find did not work the other instruction pages were not readable. I am returning to Canada from Florida with my new auto and am giving some thought to installing DRL's before I do so, as the Canadian DOT requires them. Any product site or installation site in Panama City area would be greatly appreciated.

Daytime Running Lights

I contacted the Honda dealer and it would require major electrical changes as well as computer changes.... A MAJOR expense. I'm just looking for someone who has installed aftermarket DRL and can give me the information.

You need to get this done in Canada. Not Florida.

Did you check in your Owner's Manual? You can download the correct version of the manual, since I'm not sure if you have a '19 (2018+ Odyssey) or a '16 (2011 - 2017 Odyssey). They may have changed things from the '06 (2005 - 2010 Odyssey) that this thread was about.
Do the auto headlights turn off after a time delay (like 30 seconds)? The interior lights do this on my '02 EXL and '07 EX!
And Welcome to the Ody Club!

1916 Honda odyssey, auto lights do not go off when motor turned off. Yes, they do go no automatically but do not shut? off.
The time the lights stay on after the engine turns off is a programmable feature. I think you can make it not at all.
All this also depends on your model. If you did not get a manual, you can download (or use online) one from:

Your model is encoded into the VIN, that is the number you use to register with there.
