Having just bought a new EX, and living in Silver Spring, Maryland, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for service. We bought from Herson's, but they aren't all that close. Sport, Ourisman Bethesda, and College Park are all closer. Any thoughts or experiences, good or bad?

I'm a Criswell guy

I live upcounty, so Criswell is my choice.

I'd avoid College Park, only because I don't trust the sales staff, I know nothing about their service.

Ourisman in Bethesda may be OK, but their parts prices were insanely high when I was looking for a cabin air filter.

Sport Honda

We've used Sport Honda for quite some time. My wife drove an '88 CRX for years, and they did almost all the maintenance on it. (It's still here as our 'spare' car.)

I've had my Ody ('05 touring) in maybe 6 times, nothing serious yet (they did replace the grinding brake pads as part of a service bulletin)

The main Sport Honda is up at the Autopark (off Rt. 29), but they have a satellite facility on East-West Highway, just a short walk from the Silver Spring metro station, which makes for easy drop off/pick up if you have a metro commute.

bump on this thread...

I'm thinking about getting an extended warranty on my used 05 LX. That would tie me in to using Honda for service.

Here's the closest, in order of proximity:
Criswell, Germantown
Herson's, Rockville
Jim Coleman, Clarksville

anyone care to vouch for the service dept on any of these, or let me know if I should avoid any of them? I'm kinda upcounty, so the Silver Spring dealers are sort of a hassle as far as getting there, etc. It would almost be easier to head up 270 to Shockley in Frederick of the close ones are really bad...

Criswell has been pretty fair. I literally live across the street from Hersons and would'nt piss on that dealership if it was on fire. I caught them in straight up lies twice and they were $60 more expensive on an A3 service than Criswell. The same service. I did an internet search and found similar complaints. Good luck.

All my experiences have been the same - Criswell is significantly cheaper than any place further down 270. That said, I've still been jerked around by Criswell, trying to get me to pay for unnecessary service or service that was done poorly. Also, their shuttle service sucks. I don't like Herson's either (I get the same crappy service) but sometimes I go there because it's conveniently next to an Enterprise where I can pick up a rental for the day.

I like Sport in Silver Spring I had to get some keys made for the Ody and by far were the cheapest to do it in the area. Honda of Bowie is not too bad.

How much did they charge you?
75 dollars to program 2 masters and a valet key. I already had a blank master and bought a blank valet from the dealer but 75 dollars was all I paid to have this done. Every other dealer wanted to charge well over 100 to get this done.

For non dealer service I've heard great things and had nothing but good experiences with

I assure you it's not spam. How about if I just edit it to show the cartalk website? I'm not affiliated in any with with either the mechanic or the cartalk website.
I also had no idea that it was that far out of Montgomery County. Especially since people were talking about College Park, which to me isn't that far from this place.
Thanks for the welcome ;/

The link you provided goes to a place outside (way outside!) of Montgomery County - the subject of this discussion. Since this is your first post, dropping inappropriate links like that smells of spam. Please delete that post.
