Well, I had to convert your numbers back to American units with which I am more familiar and my math may be suspect, but based on what you gave it works out to a little less than 15 miles per gallon. That's not good, especially if that's on the highway. Something's not right, I think.

Agreed that doesnt sound too good, also remember that many people seem to have about 4 gallons left when on empty so make sure that you are getting an accurate count of how many gallons you are putting in (don't assume 20 gallons) as some have.

Re fuel consumption

We have had are 02 since nov. and we have checked fuel consumption from day one, we convert liter's to canadian gallon's and check mpg after each fuel fill, the first 2500 km's were all city driving and we got a low of 14.3 mpg (first fill) and a high of 18.5 mpg.
With 2500 kilometer's on the Ody we made our first highway trip through the mountains to Vancouver and return to Calgary and for the 2200 kilometer trip averaged 30.3 mpg

One of the best things about the Odyssey is the fuel economy. I get 21.6 MPG during my weekly commute to and from work ( 26 miles each way) and 26.4 on the highway (75 to 80 MPH average).

I love it!

What Fred failed to tell you is that he drives to and from work with that strong Oklahoma wind at his back (both ways).

I have about 6000km on my 2002 and my typical gas milage on highway is 16 L per 100 km. Is this typical or does my 2002 need service?
We have about 1600km (1000 miles) on our Odyssey and the gas mileage has been less than outstanding compared with our last minivan. So far only three fills to measure but we are seeing 12.4 litres/100km , that's 19 MPG for readers south of the border, for about 80% city driving. I'm hoping that will continue to improve as the engine loosens up.

19MPG with 80% city driving sounds good to me, i'm stuck right under 20MPG with 70% highway driving and over 2Kmiles on Ody, i guess its my lead foot thats getting the low gas milage. I think 20MPG on this BIG van is every good, with my lead foot. As i was only getting 22 to 23MPG from Mits Eclipse, with 2.0L engine and about half the HP.:zoom:

I wish I got that much. The best I can do city is 15mpg. 95% highway at avg 70mph I got 21 1/2 mpg. I have 5,000 miles now. I think I should do better. Does it get better?

I have just got back from Toronto, Ontario last night with my 2000 EX. Average speed 85 MPH (140Km/H) with peeks at 110MPH (180Km/H).

I have traveled 576.3Km and had to pour 56.39 Liters to fill the van up to the rim.

It work out to 28.44MPG with the Imperial Gallon (4.545Liters per Gallon) or 24.08 MPG on the US Gallon.

This is my best up to date and the van has 59,000Km.

I did notice that the engine prefers some octane rating. The above results were obtained with 89.4 Octane from Sunoco.

I get almost as good rating with Ethanol blend gasoline (5% Ethanol) but drop significantly with regular unleaded.

Best regards from Montreal Canada

I sure hope the family wasn't with you at those speed:no: .

So What???, I am reckless, specially when there is no traffic, open Highway, Dry weather and Sunny and the only person in the vehicule.

I travel in excess of 100,000Km per year with the Ody and other cars I rent when I am flying to other locations in North America.

I would not consider going that speed when traffic is heavy or the road conditions do not permit it.

I guess Sylvain, you are going to have to fine me for speeding.

Best regards from Montreal

Hmmm, maximum speed limit in Canada is 100 Km/h. Above 160 Km/h is considered reckless driving... :um:

I'm not saying you're a reckless driver (I drive above 180 km/h myself (not in the Ody though)) , just stating what the law says... If you get caught, you loose your permit right away and your vehicle is towed, plus an hefty fine... It's up to you to decide if it's worth it :D

99 LX mileage

I've got 75k miles on my 99LX. I do have the LX roof rack installed, but with Thule cross bars, not the Honda crossbars. I have yet to get less than 20mpg. Replaced tires with Goodyear Aquatred 3s about 30 k miles ago. Mix of driving is 70/30 highway/suburbs in the flatlands of southern NJ. The fuel "idiot" light generally clicks on at about 380 miles. Today's fill-up was 17 gallons for 400 miles traveled, or 23.5 mpg.

Tires are pretty good, rack adds some noise. I'll spring for a fairing in the next couple of months.

Mileage Averages

We took our 02 (the Shag Waggon)from Washington State to California over spring break with about 300 miles starting-off. Highway Mileage averaged between 28 and 29 mpg with 5 people and luggage (no cartop carrier) at 70 to 80 mph and 87 octane. Needless to say, we were pleased with the mileage given that the 02 replaced our 1997 Expedition. Tough to calculate the in town mileage since I have a tough time getting the car from my wife....

I've had my 02 Ody LRES since Jan 02 ... have ~7400 miles on it so far ... fuel economy has ranged from 16 to just less than 20 mpg for a mixture of both city and highway. Lately, it has been improving (i.e., the 20 mpg figure). This is my 4th Honda (86 Accord LXi, 88 Civic LX, 98 CRV and 02 Ody LRES) and if past history holds, I expect the engine to loosen up and the fuel economy to improve slightly. I'll be taking my first long trip in a few weeks ... hope to see > 20 mpg ... we'll see.
