My local tire place here in NY suggested that instead of buying a new wheel and tire set, that I can just get a winter tire which matches the OE size (235/60/R18) from my 2014 Touring Elite, and swap the tires each season. He suggested Blizzaks DM-V1, Dunlop Winter Sport 3D, or Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6 which are all available in this size.

Meanwhile it seems like everyone in this board is just going with an entire set of new wheels. I would love to get your thoughts, do you guys see anything wrong with just swapping winter tires onto the OE size tires each winter? Thanks!

I'm planning on a whole new package (wheels and tires). This way I can swap whenever I want. For me, I like the idea of swapping at a moments notice. Let's say I need to head south where the "snow don't go". 25 minutes and a couple beers later I'm on my street treads ready to roll. Get home and 25 minutes and a couple beers later, I'm back in the snow shoes. Plus time at the tire shop drives me crazy.

Our tire place charges $70 each time we swap tires on the same set of wheels. They have to dismount the current one, mount the second set, balance, etc. Do this 5 or 6 times, and you've paid for a set of decent wheels. Do it for ten years, and the wheels have paid for themselves several times. Plus, like nordford said, you can swap them yourself if they're already mounted on another set of wheels.

+1....

With a second set of wheels will there still be problems with the sensors? I just got my 2014 EX-L last week and did a little searching and reading the other night on here about snow tires. I gave up defeated when it sounded like it would be a nightmare with the sensors (Getting them re-programmed each switch).

kept the sensors on the snow wheels and just kept them off of the summer wheels.....u have to live with the TPMS light on tho.....but no big deal for me in saving the money and the bloody hassle of sensors, reprogramming, $$$ etc
