Hi all,

I'm sure this question's been asked ad nauseous :D

Wanting to replace the 4 OEM speakers in our Ody. Looked up Crutchfield, entered all the pertinent info. For front door, it lists 5-1/4" and 6-1/2" speakers, while for mid-panel it lists the same sizes.

So ..... what are the right size(s) speakers ?

It has been asked many times... :)

Front and rears are 6.5 inches, so 5 1/4 fit, with space to spare.

The things to keep in mind are that the rears do not have a lot of front clearance, so Crutchfield marks many speakers with as not fitting which do (case in point the Polk db650 I put in last autumn...). Also, the bolt pattern on the OEM speakers is not standard, so you either need an adaptor or to choose speakers that have that pattern (don't what know do, mine don't...).

There are also tweeters up front, but Crutchfield does not offer to match those.

Hope this helps,

Nicolas
Thanks a bunch, Nicolas. So 6.5" it is. I'll have the car audio guy figure out the nitty gritty :DD I'm just supplying the speakers (once I buy 'em), possibly with a new head unit but undecided at the moment.

Going with an AVIC head unit or something else Pioneer? Double Din? What are you doing for the surround?

Just had to mod, eh?
HU mod is lowest priority, I'll see how the new speakers improve things first. Which means I'll likely settle for them for awhile long before deciding that a new HU is needed.

And also, a set of four JL Audio TR600CXI (6.5", BNIB) I've been eyeing on Craigslist were sold today :frown: which means I'll just need to be patient and wait for another good set to come along.

I replaced my speakers with the Polk Audios but with the stock HU (I have a '09 EXL-RES). I really like the speakers, but the stock HU does NOT have enough power to really push the speakers unfortunately. By the time you start getting up to 17-18 on the volume, the bass really starts to cut out. Maybe someday I'll replace the HU....
Picked up this today:

A pair of JBL GTO 620, and a pair of JBL Power Series P632, all for $50 total from the seller :DD Compared to OEM crap speakers, how bad can these be ??
