The molding on the driver's side roof channel has started to come up on my 09 Odyssey, and I'm not certain which actual part I need to replace it (see attached photo). I cut the loose part to keep it from flapping in the wind. I'm probably going to go ahead and replace the passenger side as well

Looking at the attached parts diagram, do I just need parts 9&11?

How difficult of a job is this? Do I need to remove the rail in the channel, or will the weatherstripping just slide on. Thanks

From my understanding 9-11 is the entire roof molding for a non roof rack model. 10-12 is the molding for a roof rack equipped vehicle. The two are interchangeable. But be sure to buy new clips when reinstalling.

Please note that the reply in post #2 is incorrect or a typo - the two parts are NOT interchangeable. If you have a roof rack, you have to get the segmented molding part.

Although I have not done this yet, it is my understanding that the roof rack has to be removed. You would especially want to do this if you are applying a seam sealer to the entire length of the channels to resolve the common water intrusion (A-Pillar leak) issue.

There are DIY's here on removing the roof rack. It looks pretty easy.

You could look up the part numbers on an online Honda site like Bernardi. Is your trim damaged? Usually you can lay them back down, or as post #2 suggested- get new clips.

Well my trim is faded to light grey and has the black dust that rubs off. I'm thinking of removing, sealing the weld, rubbing the loose parts off the trim, then using that rubber coat spray dark black so its still flexible and water safe, and then re-install..... I didnt see where to buy the clips tho....

Just buy new strips from Bernardi or Majestic. They’re not that expensive. Refinishing the old ones won’t do any good if the rubber has disintegrated.

I have the exact same issue, and I cut the flap off too. I'm confused as to whether this part does anything. Does it actually keep water out?

No. It is not a water seal. It is just cosmetic. You can remove them if you want. It is very common for the roof weld seam under those strips to develop tiny cracks that cause water intrusion. It is a good idea to thoroughly clean those channels and apply a good sealant along the entire length of the weld on both sides.

I just had the drivers side fail on me yesterday when we were driving on the freeway. Scared the hell out of me. The rubber is completely disintegrated so I figure the passenger side it not far behind. I take it that the clips that are being reference actually hold down the metal part that is underneath the rubber? What is the part number of the clips?

I ordered the back 3M 5200 off amazon, new covers off Bernardi, and am ready to go when everything arrives! Thanks everyone!

I too have this problem now on my 05 model. Can you tell me if the rubber and metal rails are all one piece, or can you just get the rubber?
Thanks

Yes, if you mean the following.
The roof molding is metal with a black rubber cover glued onto the metal.
Rubber not sold separately.

There are 2 part #s , L & R if you have roof rails. Each 4 of theses comes precut to fit around/under existing roof rails. So if you order both L & R parts #s you will have 8 pieces, 4 for each side.

Same is true if you have no roof rails or want to remove them. It has 2 different part #s for L & R. Each part is one long piece. So if you order L & R you will have 2 pieces. To fill channel where roof rails would go.

As stated, if changing these moldings definitely clean and caulk body seams under this roof molding.

What Bear posted is spot-on correct. The rubber and metal are molded together. Different part numbers for left and right side and if you have luggage rack or not.
