With 33K on our 2000 LX, had the 'differential' problem, and had transmission replaced with remanufactured one. Honda assured us they had even more confidence in the "new" one, since Honda engineers carefully go over them and certify that all is well.

Well, transmission #2 has the 'reverse clunk' problem. Transmission #3 scheduled for installation next week.

What was your original problem that made you to change AT. Any specific PCM code like P0740 that points to AT. I had above said code, Dealer asked me to replace AT( 1999 LX 45K ), but my vehicle was running smooth
and Engine light came ON. I took 2 opinions
because I had to pay for new AT. Asked mechanic to change AT clutch solonoid ( linear )value for $158 and problem was solved. Why don't you ask your mechanic about
it.

There was a rumbling noise that was getting louder and louder. I don't know much about cars, but my understanding is that there was a manufacturing problem and a bearing was getting worn out. When a transmission is under warranty, Honda would rather replace it than have the technician take it apart. Apparently, this is a known problem, experienced by many '99 and '00 owners.
