2000 Odyssey 60,000 is getting a P420. 1st the check engine light can on then went of after a week or so. I thought it had to due with the fuel cap. Then after a few days it came back on. Now my wife calls and says it is flashing maint required. She take it to a Midas dealer to have diagnostics ran and it gives a code of P420. They say to do a Fuel injector cleaning? I call a Honda dealer and they say EGR? I look up the code and it has to do with the CAT? WTF?
Midas said that a ERG won't help. I asked why, they say because the throttle shows in the open position at idea and that when giving it gas it takes a while for it to catch up? I have no clue.
I then see this...

Occasional problems on this vehicle are failure of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Passages or the EGR valve. The cost to repair the EGR Passages and the EGR Valve is estimated at $74.08 for parts and $195.00 for labor. The cost to repair only the EGR valve is estimated at $169.00 for the EGR Valve and $32.50 labor. Honda has extended the warranty on EGR trouble codes to 8 years or 80,000 miles. All prices are estimates based on $65 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.
Any ideas?
Thank you
