I have a 2001 Odyssey just shy of 100k miles on it. The transmission was replaced at 45k miles at the dealership's suggestion under a recall. Two days ago it when I went to start it up, it turned over and started, and about a second later died out. I tried to start it again and it would turn over but wouldn't start.

I then put my foot on the accelerator and tried to start it. It started right up but when I let off the the gas, it died out again. I then repeated the start up process and held the accelerator at 1100 RPM's until the vehicle was warmed up (the temperature gauge was mid range). I let off the gas and it died again.

Sometimes it wouldn't shift out of park into neutral, but the brake lights are working when the brake pedal is depressed.

I tried different keys and checked the fuses but to no avail. It looks like I will have to get it towed to the shop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The brake switch has two sets of contacts. One turns the lights on and the other disengages the shift lock. Also if the P light isn't on it is loosing the voltage from the range switch which will also keep the gear shift locked in park.

As for the idle problem I would start looking at the idle air control valve. It may be stuck
