Hello, My first post. I have a relative who has offered to give me a free 2001 Odyssey. The van has 175,000 miles on it and problems with the transmission. I have no details right now but I'm assuming they're the usual. Is there an aftermarket transmission available that has solved the problems associated with the factory one. Also is there a nationwide transmission repair chain that does reliable work. I'm in Mexico and will be flying up to Texas to pick up the van. I'd like to be able to get the trans replaced before I get there. I've noted a lot of the recommendations such as synthetic fluid and extra filter, cooler. has anyone assembled a fairly complete list of recommendations. It'd be nice to see it all in one place.
