I bought a 2007Odyssey EX-L, no RES, no NAV last week and it's giving me a B1248 code, A problem in the rear mode control linkage, doors, or motor. I tried the rear climate control unit in the back seat, and everything seemed to function properly. The fan control operated correctly, the temp control adjusted correctly and the location knob seemed to work. Where should I look for a problem?

On a side note, I bought two new key fob remotes, I went through the programing, everything seemed to go right, but when testing the remotes, none of them worked including the original. Could this be connected to the B1248 problem?

Thanks for any suggestions,
Tom

B1248 is the rear mode control motor circuit. Nothing else. It controls flow of the rear vents between floor and ceiling.

I found a YouTube video on the rear air mix control, I'll look into this to see if it might help. It's free to do.
. I might not get to this for a few days, youngest daughter getting married this weekend, wife says "No working on cars until after the wedding".

I'll post results next week.

Do what hpark mentioned. The mix control motor is not the same thing as the mode control motor.

Hello all, I finally had a chance to work on the Odyssey. I opened up the Rear Mode Control Motor and cleaned up the gear and the electrical contacts behind it. These parts were not caked up with goop, but I cleaned it anyway. I am happy to report that my B1248 error code is now gone. I don't know if the problem with the key fob remote not working was due to the B1248 code, but I was able to reprogram the original remote. Unfortunately, the two aftermarket remotes were not able to program, I sent these back for a refund.

Does anyone have a recommendation for aftermarket remotes?

Thanks to all for the help. I did order a copy of the service manual on CD from EBay, looks to be very good.

Thanks for coming back and reporting what you did to solve the problem. Especially for this problem, which is so common for all 3rd gens.
