We upgraded the DVD for the navigation system in our 2007 Ody to the 2011 eidition. Since then, the "Auto" setting for the display doesn't work. It no longer automatically switches between Day and Night mode.

Is anyone else having this problem? Or is there some other setting I've missed?

Thanks

Just in case anyone else has the same question ....

It turned out to be a problem with the nut behind the steering wheel.

Either my wife or I had turned the inside lights up to maximum (using the dial on the dashboard below the spedometer). When it's turned to maximum, the navigation display will not switch automatically to night mode.

It seems like a silly "feature," but, just turning the knob counter-clockwise a little was a simple fix.

The reason why its like that because on rainy days or if you simply want to drive with your light on in the day time you can have the day time navi screen. It will be kind of hard to drive with your lights on in the day and try to read a night time navi screen. ;)

That's what the "Day Mode" setting is for. It's easier to use the touchscreen or voice commands to switch to day mode than to reach through the steering wheel to turn that little knob. And, while driving, it would be terribly unsafe to reach through the wheel.
