Hello Friends

My Honda dealer in NJ is charging $650 for replacing the master brake cylinder for the 2012 Honda Odyssey EX-L, just want to know if this is a reasonable price.

Regards

The brake master cylinder itself should be $200 or less at the dealer (MSRP is $178.95). I would expect book time is less than 2 hours, plus brake bleed time. That sounds like the top end of what should be charged (~$200/hr). It should be around half that at an independent mechanic.

If the master cylinder went out this early, I would expect that brake fluid changes haven't been performed on time... Rust eats brake components from the inside!

It would be great to hear the rest of this story. I don't remember a master cylinder replacement ever being posted about around here.
