don't know if this has been discussed before. I was a member in 2011 I'm back with new name. anyway- just picked up my second 4th gen oddy. this time ex-l w/ res. not bad so far ( missing my touring elite) but the one thing driving me crazy is the expanded view drivers mirror. Everytime I look into it makes my vision blurry and it looks like I'm looking into a warped mirror. My wife and mother confirmed this. Makes no sense to me to do this. seems dangerous. anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes or replacements?

Interesting, I think it was discussed a few threads back, but in a positive way as compared to the 2011-2013. I'd say is a matter of getting used to it, especially as you no longer have the Blind Spot Monitoring from the Touring Elite.

Just a thought

"All 2014 Odyssey models and trim levels get an Expanded View Driver’s Mirror. The driver’s side mirror provides a 19-percent increase in visible area, offering an enhanced view of objects that might otherwise be hidden in the vehicle’s blind spot."

Yes, I totally agree! Just traded in my 2011 touring for a 2014. I'm actually on my 6th Odyssey so obviously I love them. The 2014, however, I am disappointed with. Many reasons, the rear-view mirror, the Navi; cannot man it while driving the car! Reeeeally hate this new feature. When my husband is driving, I, as the passenger, cannot plug an address into the Navi or look up anything. You have to pull over and do this. Really stupid, Honda!

I find that section of the mirror is quite useful - not for details, but for general awareness of vehicles in the blindspot (as it its purpose). A nice addition, and way "classier"/subtle than some of the fisheye mirrors that some attach to their mirror.

Detailed viewing is still sufficient through the remaining area of the mirror.

The mirrors on the 2014s are huge which I appreciate, I just wish that the power folding feature (Cdn Touring) could be set to automatic with the power cycle. That would be the cat's meow.

This is the best thing one can have short of blind spot monitoring system. Only in America we still use 1950's "flat" mirrors where as every where in the world they use wide angle mirrors just like on the new Odyssey. I've owned/own several German vehicles and always order those from Europe if possible. If fact people pay good money to put their hands on these. It takes a few days to a week to get used to them but believe me once you'll get used to them and figure out how to properly use them you'll never want to go back to an outdated "flat" mirror ever again.

Does anyone know if it's possible to install one of the expanded view mirrors in an older Odyssey?

I just bought a 2013 Touring and hadn't even heard about the expanded view mirrors until I took mine in for detailing and was given a 2016 CRV with those mirrors as a loaner.

I can see why it's distracting but it would be much better for my use than sticking one of those little round mirrors on there instead.

It's been done and I will on mine as soon as I figure out the part number for the 14 with just side marker lights and no camera
