I asked people and searched everywhere and could not find a decent looking grill anywhere. I really like the 'mugen' styled one like the one on "ora-lag's" van that can be seen on the OdyClub gallery, but again, can't find it anywhere!!!

...so for now I made my own custom grill.

check it out at:

I figure while on the topic, please use this thread to post pics of any second gen grills, and where you can actually buy them as well!

Thank you.

I cut out the middle emblem with a hacksaw and cleaned it up with a dremel. I used pieces of 1/4" steel mesh (I think it is called carpenters fabric at hardware store) pushed into the back of the grill and epoxied in place just for a base shape. You could use other material, I just had some of that laying around. I used bodo brand fiberglass filler to flesh out the shape then sanded it and used regular body filler bondo to fill in imperfections and sanded again to get the final shape. Then primer and paint. You have to sand the chrome bezel part with some fine grit sandpaper if you want the paint to stick well (if you are going to paint it) I used krylon fusion paint. It is pretty strong and sticks to plastics pretty well. You will get rock ships on the bezel after a while requiring repainting. Maybe some different paint would work better, not sure.

Another option for the bezel is to buy a couple of feet of black vinyl film on ebay and use that to cover the bezel. You can find videos on youtube that will show you some basics of working with vinyl films. It would last a lot longer too (5-7 years). Vinyl would be impractical for the average person on the middle part of the grill due to the many contours unless you really know what you are doing. I work with vinyl quite a bit and I plan to cover the entire grille in black carbon fiber vinyl. :)

thats really cool, love the grill......i would flip the discs around as the direction of the drills and slotts is suppost to face forward, that might cause you big issues......
