So, the valve on the high side of my a/c is leaking badly. I heard all kinds of hissing and bubbling and the cap shot off in my hand. Is it possible to change this out or do I need to change the entire tubing?
I have HVAC knowledge and this is not a repair for the average person. Even if you could do the replacement of the valve you still neeed to evacuate the entire system with a vacuum pump before you put the freon back in the system. Then you need to make sure it is able to hold a vacuum before you install the freon. It might cost you a couple of $$$ but it is a lot cheaper then causing yourself a bigger problem. If you know someone who is a auto mechanic and does this repair instead of the dealership then try them first, otherwise take to the dealership and have it done by a professional.
