Last summer my 2000 model experienced failure of cooling on days of many hours of driving (8 hr). Air flow was present but no setting of controls would produce cool air. When I brought the car into the dealer the next day everything checked out ok. This happened 4 times. My guess is that there must be a problem in the "controls" rather than the A/C itself. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Do you have the LX or EX? I have the EX and I'm wondering if that frilly climate control setup will ever leave me sweating in this TX heat.

I have the EX model with the frilly controls. Honda says they will not try to fix it unless I can bring it into the shop when it is malfunctioning. This is very hard to arrange, since it fails at the end of a long day of driving and all dealers are closed at that time (if any are in the area).

Have you tried just stopping and turning the ignition off for a few seconds so all electronics reset? Sort of a Control-Alt-Delete?

It wouldn't fix anything, but might be a good diagnostic indicator.

We stopped to eat and the A/C still wasn't functioning after we finished. So turning ignition off/on has no effect.
