Tonight, wednesday, was our Valentines day...you know, kids, work, wife' school

well, I decided to do something and surprise the wife today, unlike other years when we stay home
we went downtown Cleveland to the "flats" to the Improv and Fridays for diner. There is a large parking lot for the "powerhouse" complex that we parked in. As we pulled up for the parking ticket, I gave the guy, a younger man, the money.

He says "Is that some special edition Odyssey?" I was surprised he even knew it was an ODY

I said "huh?....uhhh, OH! no....LOL...it's MY special edition!"

he laughed and said "looks good...looks real good! Nice job!"

I thanked him and drove off....my wife was more excited that someone noticed the van that I was.....

so then I go to park, finding a perfect spot that had a light pole in the adjacent parking spot so no one could park there....I took up 1.5 spaces....my wife is pissing and moaning "park far away!...what are you doing???" LOL

she's more nuts about this van than I am...so I had to explain to her why I was parking where I did.....LOL

it was a great evening.

I've found that those that take up more than 1 space in parking lots are usually the first one's to be "accidentally" door dinged.

When I had my older truck I took great pleasure in squeezing into the spot next to them. Not to door ding them, just parked nice and close but well within my parking spot.

Now that I drive a new truck I just park farther away, but only take 1 space. In busy parking lots it's just plain rude to do otherwise.

I guess I've always thought that if your car is that nice that you should leave it at home in the garage where it's safe.

I have to agree with Scott on this one. I only take one parking spot, but I pick one far enough from the masses to avoid getting a "neighbor", but not too far as to make it obvious that I am anal (and thereby inviting unwanted attention or abuse).

If I need to justify that behavior I just look at it like I'm younger and could certainly use the exercise, and I'm leaving available the closer spots for the less able people to make use of. I can kid myself about a lot of my weird behavior with stuff like that. I just thought of another one, I'm "saving gas" by parking closer to the road... :)

You know, I like to park away from everyone, too...but it never fails that when I come back out to my car, someone else has still parked right next to me.

LOL...I made sure the OTHER space that I took up was occupied partially by a light pole...therfore no one could get close enough to ding it anyway
