air compressor moisture at gas stations

1925 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  William Wiles
I have been to a few gas stations recently that I noticed when I use their air hose, I feel some moisture coming out of the nozzle. How bad is this for the tires, and how would one know if there is a lot of moisture in the tire?

I'm guessing in the summer time when its humid, this problem is very frequent.

There is always moisture is compressed air, it's a by product of heating the air as it is compressed and it then cooling in the tank. There shouldn't be enough to cause any issues with the amount that gets in the tires. There are driers and water traps that can be added to the outlet line from the tank but they require upkeep and that wouldn't really happen at a gas station so they don't bothr with them.
