when the doors are locked the horn alarm goes off after the vehicle has been sitting for awhile. Sometimes during the night and sometimes during the day. someone suggested the hood latch is wired to the alarm that can cause the problem. disconnecting hasn't stopped the problem. need some better ideas.

You are not supposed to just disconnect it if you want to bypass the alarm. You are supposed to disconnect it and put a jumper in it to jump the connection.

If the alarm is armed, any of the doors opening without the disarm signal from the key fob, will cause the alarm to trigger.

A scan tool to monitor the door lock signals would be helpful with troubleshooting. You might be able to catch which one shows opened when closed

Simply disconnecting the hood latch does disable even being able to set the alarm because the van sees a door as being open already. Definitely follow up on marvinstockman's suggestion, as random electrical problems caused by water intrusion are a known issue.

No, disconnecting the hood latch doesn't do that on this generation. It does on the 4th gen. The hood latch switch is closed when the hood is open, open when the hood is closed. So to bypass the alarm you need to jump it.

As WiiMaster said, to disable the alarm and prevent the random alarms simply unplug the hood switch connector and install a thin jumper wire. The alarm will never go off again. I have had this setup for several years on my Odyssey.
