Hey all,

I just picked up my 02 RRP EXL on Saturday. After a well fought battle with the dealer, I drove my ody home Saturday afternoon. While at home cleanin it up, I happened to notice a quarter-size dent in the hood...hold on it gets better... I called the dealer and they agreed to repair it no questions asked. The paint is ok so I don't have to worry about a botched paint job.

So, last night I noticed some spots on my driveway coincidentally in the same place I've been parking my ody. I looked under the van and sure enough, it's leaking ever so slightly. I open the hood to find it's power steering fluid. It's not the pump, and due to the slow nature of the leak it's probably (God willing) a loose hose or coupling. The resevoir looked clean.

When I go to close the hood, the darn thing doesn't close! I dropped the hood from a foot above the grill and it doesn't go down. I then discover that my hood is bent enough where on the left side, I can't even get my pinky between the hood and the side of the van, but on the right side I can get my whole hand in the engine compartment! I'm venturing to say that the van wasn't inspected completely and that the dent in the hood was caused by someone trying to force it closed! Needless to say, this will be going back to the dealer to be fixed if not replaced.

UGH!

Sorry to hear about your Ody. If you need some sympathy I urge you to check out some of Tomhans's posts. He has had the worst luck but still believes in the Ody. If this keeps up though you might take Tomhans place as having the worst luck.
Let us know how you make out as this sounds like damage done after the factory. I'm pretty sure they would catch a defect like that before delivery.

I notice you edited your message twice, those curse words are easy to type when your angry.

Sorry to hear your story. My 02 Ody went back to the dealer on the 3rd day for a valve problem, which took the dealer two days to fix it. Although I was disapointed by the initial quality, I still enjoy the performance of my Ody.

Killroy,
You think the hood damage happened during transportation ? That's a possibility too. The dealer should DEFINITELY take care of everything.

Makes me wonder just what kind of dealer prep it got and who signed the pre-delivery checklist. If they had at least checked under the hood, they should have noticed the fit.

Al,

That's exactly my point. I've put in a request for the delivery checklist. I'm curious as to see who/what was inspected. As for now, I'm without my ody and stuck with a civic.

KIllroy, My checklist came with the car. It's supposed to be done by the dealership. There is a section for General Fit and Finish that covers dents and closing of hood etc, plus an Under Vehicle section. Check all the paperwork that came with the car. Mine was stuffed in with all the purchase paperwork.

Regards
Al

My dealer actually had their prep guy go through the list and check the van out and actually had me sign off the list also. I did not ask them to do this but I feel that all vehicles should be done this way. I also made sure that I was able to do a full road test of the vehicle before I took possesion.

Hood dent on mine too!

Took possession of my '03 TW EX-L w/Navi yesterday, Dec. 20. Parked in the garage upon returning from picking it up, and the light from the garage window reflected perfectly onto the hood. Noticed as I walked around the front of the van, the indentation..sure enuf..ran my hand over it and could feel it with my eyes closed very definitely. I had my OdyClub checklist with me at the dealership and went thru each one methodically..even the salesman says "I've never had any buyer come with a checklist on a vehicle! You are the most prepared buyer I've ever encountered"! Took that trial run on the freeway for pulls to the left/right, checked the windshield rubber around the top/middle of windshield, got up and looked over the roof for gouges, looked for dents, etc...didn't notice anything out of whack..until the parking in the garage! Shoot! I emailed the salesman I'd been dealing with as soon as I found the dent..I've had no response..imagine that! Think I should followup with a call..this vehicle is leased, not purchased...and I don't wanna pay for it at lease end for sure! I agree, "my" dent looks like someone pushed too hard to close the hood. I hadn't even looked under the hood at the dealership..wouldn't have known really what I would have been looking for under there...
Love this OdyClub...the best "tool" in the workshop!! Thanks!

Being an 02 are we sure this vehicle has not been sold before or possible wrecked by the dealer and then sold as new.

It has happended before. Dealer where I bought mine has a policy of locking the doors and not letting anyone drive a presold van as they had a salesman wreck one in the past. You know that a never sold new van that is wrecked still gets sold...right.

Consumer reports did a decent article in the past year about a memrcedes that had been wrecked real bad and was sold many times throughout the country before the truth of the original dealer's sin came out.

Just a thought.

Even though I found the Ody Club the day after I took home the van, I printed the check list and went though the van with it. To my relief, the Van was close to perfect. What I also recommend, weather permitting, is do a hand washing and waxing as soon after you take delivery as possible. It's a good way to check every inch of the van's exterior for flaws. Also, clean all the glass inside and out, and treat the inside vinyl, fabric, and/or leather. You should find the flaws if they are there and you can report them to the dealer. I also have access to a lift, so I got the van up and checked the entire undercarriage also. Just my way of checking the van out. The only things I found were misaligned windshield washer jets and one tailpipe clamp that needed adjustment.

Just on a positive note; We have enjoyed just over 10K of trouble free miles. And I'm not one of those Honda is the only vehicle made people either. I am really interested in the new Ody when it comes out, but I'm almost afraid to get rid of the one I have. Very solid, nice running vehicle. :D
