Sometimes all the indicator lights go out on the heater controls and whatever setting it was on, it stays on. None of the buttons work. Then I whack the dash a couple of times just above the controls, and magically everything comes back on!

Seems like symptoms of a bad connection. Either a connector itself or a damaged circuit in the control assembly (which is quite an expensive part).

Has anyone had a similar problem?

I guess I'll be pulling the dash apart sometime soon

Hey there --- you have any luck figuring out a root cause to this? Mine comes & goes as well (2001 LX); I thought it might be related to an overpressure state on the A/C; a couple of times it seemed like I could "reset" the control head by pulling fuse 13 on the passenger's side, but, it's not consistent.

I can't seem to nail a pattern to the lights going out, so I may well be just an intermittent connection of some sort.

Sigh!
