Geez...thinking of spending that kind of money and want to get cheap and have someone else run up the cost to do your work.

Get an AutoCheck report...less expensive and more reliable than car-faux. Dealers have been using car-faux reports to show 'no accidents' or 'no problems' while AutoCheck shows real issues that car-fax doesn't track (auctions, accidents, etc.).

We did this all the time on the Audiworld forum...
Why pay if you can have a forum friend do it for you at no cost. Plus if your don't go ahead with the deal, you are out nothing.

P.S. It really helps when planning to look at a vehicle that is out of state and you have not even seen it yet. Give you a good clue if you should even bother to go see it.

And yes, car-faux does not usually turn up much.

Wonder what AutoCheck is doing that Carfax is not.

TO MARJENMILLER:

Exactly, people in forums do tend to help each other out, if you have nothing better to say, we do not need your opinion.

Some forums have been hit with legal actions as well for letting threads like this press on. Carfax agreement doesn't allow for sharing.

Anywho...yes run them both. They both have +/- and when spending this kind of coin it pays to spend a little on due diligence. Have a mechanic check it as well. All in you're out $200 max on a much larger investment.

check out fatwallet.com and look in the hot deals forum.

There is a user there that will PM you if you post in his carfax report thread, and he only charges like $10 for a carfax, very reasonable.
