I am tempted to buy an Odyssey from out of state (I live in California), but am not sure about whether the non-California-bound Odysseys meet CA emission restrictions. Any input? TIA.

Yes, they are 50 state compliant. I live in CA and purchased from out of state. Only thing you will need is a smog certificate to take to the dmv when you register and your original purchase paperwork and ownership certificate. The whole process was very simple, made appointment on line at the dmv, whole thing took less than 30 minutes. Good luck.

Regarding registering, we've registered our last two cars (bought both used this year) at AAA. You don't need an appointment, both times I've went I was there for less than 10 minutes, and it's completely legit. I don't know how well registering new cars works there, but I highly recommend it!

Just a thought if you're a AAA member.

Amen to that! And it also beats dealing with those awful DMV ladies. They're certainly nasty around here! (especially the license test ones!)
