Ash Tray/Cup Holders-Coin tray

Is there anything else that can occupy the sliding cupholder-coin tray. I don't smoke and the console I have has plenty of cupholders. I don't leave coins in the slots as sometimes they disappear (especially after a visit to the car wash.)

Isn't there a way to make it a drawer? Right now it is not particularly useful
