I wouldn't ever buy a vehicle with that feature. If I found out the car/truck I was looking at cut the motor off at a stop light on a test drive, I'd get out and tell the salesman to drive it and me back to the dealership! Honda has several features nowdays that assist only one entity: HONDA

I haven't looked at other manufacturers or models in depth, but Toyota, Chevy, Ford at least also have the same feature. Basically, if you buy any new vehicle you're going to be dealing with something like this. As with VCM, you can install a modification that disables it without requiring it to be turned off every time you start the vehicle.

Yes Honda does it to benefit Honda, but other automakers do the same and the federal government in the US penalizes them for not doing this.

There's another thread here where a guy has
identified some hoodoo that suppresses the idle
auto-stop. I went and tried one of the ideas today.

The udea was to start with hood open, close hood,
drive off. Observations:

- immediately, there is no indicator in the idle-stop
dashboard position (left and up from speed). Usually
there would be a white status showing either enabled,
disabled for A/C or disabled by button press. Blank now.
The ride out, I saw no auto-stop.

- On the first ride back, the indicator momentarily
shows up in orange (fault) before going away. But
leaving the parking lot, it reappeared in green and
shut the engine down. Hit the button to shut it up.

- Next ride, same startup and again with the green
icon and engine stop, this time a popup says
idle stop enabled, full brake pedal to engage.
I just sat there with partial pedal but it engaged
anyway. Upon taking off, the green icon went away
and I had no subsequent auto-stops.

I will continue to drive without manually disabling
to see how often the "bogus green auto-stop"
occurs. It is much better than enabled but I was
hoping for a silver bullet.

I have a 2018 Odyssey Elite and my Auto Engine Stop feature has never worked well. The engine never stays off more than 30 or 45 seconds. Many times it turns off and starts immediately after coming to a stop. I loathe this feature!

My BMW 2013 will remember its last setting so it stays off.

I've had battery problems that may be due to battery health from the engine turning off with AC running.

2 choices,
1. Press the Auto Idle Stop (AIS) button each time you start your engine.
2. Buy and install the IdleStopper
