Question: Is it healthy to have baby taking their afternoon nap in the Odyssey? My baby for some reason she love to take her afternoon nap in the car seat inside our Odyssey. She always sleep very good for atleast 2 hours in it each day. We always leave the sliding side door open and the garage window open. We lock the fron gate and leave our house door open to keep an eye and ear on her while she sleep. We make sure the garage is very clean. Arizona weather is wonderful during this time of the year. The heat is no factor.

Well, both my 1.5 year-old and my 3.5 year-old have slept in their carseats in our cars in our garage since they moved out of a removable infant carseat that uses a base. We just keep the door from the family room to the garage open, and a couple of car windows open so we can hear them when they wake up. No harm done.

As long as there are no environmental hazards (fumes, etc.) and you make sure the door DOES NOT CLOSE there is most likely no physical harm done.

Psycologically, you may be setting yourself up for future trouble when it comes time to "break" them of this habit.

Good Luck!

How about putting a baby monitor (one of those wireless intercom types) there in the Ody with her?

My brother has always been a car snoozer with no adverse effects.

Maugham's idea is a good one.

Also check on her often. If something's wrong she won't always be able to cry for help.

For word of warning, be sure that you haven't left the key in the ignition, and that baby is strapped into her carseat (I don't know how old she is, but it's always a good idea). Kids can do amazing things when they're left alone with your precious valuables...

She is only 2 years old. It is very safe....we lock the side gate and close garage door. We left the high garage door window open. If any other door of the house open, we can always tell with the beebing of our house alarm. We always leave one of the Odyssey sliding door open. Our new house garage is very clean. We left the door from the house to garage open, and we can her every move she make in her car seat from inside the house.

That reminds me the time my 3 months old son was colicky and the only thing to do was to drive around town at 2 am, then too afraid to wake him up, we both slept well bundled up in the wagon til the sun came up. It was minus 10 Celcius that night.
Wished I had the luxury of the Odyssey back then to sleep on a flat surface...

Do you guys remember that Odyssey commercial where the two parents are driving their son around in the middle of the night, and then the dad pokes the baby so they can take another lap around the neighborhood?

Hehehe! (last post reminded me of that)

did the same thing...drive around to tire out our little one. but we always managed to unstrap her without waking her after she fell asleep. we also have a small black & white TV monitor with infrared and microphone so we can watch and hear her when she sleeps. a monitor like that would work perfectly for your situation.
