Batteries for RES Remote

Looks like the batteries in the remote wand for the RES in my van have worn out. Popping open the battery cover reveals three of the biggest "Watch" type batteries that I've ever seen. They are BR 3032 3V batteries.

Anyone else replaced these and if so, whose got the best deal? The best I've seen so far is $8, making this a $24 piece of maintenance.

As an aside, would it have killed Honda to have made this something rechargeable? The thing spends most of its time in the dock and it has a set of contacts on each end. Quite frankly, I had taken it for granted that the battery charged up when sitting in the dock.

there's three batteries in your fob?? My fob has only one battery and normally can be found at the local hardware store and Radio Shack.

Hi all!
Just received 3 batteries for the RES remote. I found out that it needs only one for the Dvd controls and the other 2 are for the backlight. I tested the ones for the backlight and they were in 100% condition.

So, I ended up only using one of the ones I bought.

Mine was the same. I checked all 3 batteries and only 1 was dead and the other 2 were good. But, I found this size battery really hard to find and any normal place won't have them. They are an abnormally huge button cell battery. I had to get mine from the dealer.

Interesting. I did not throw out my old batteries which I thought I will recycle properly. I will check with my Volt meter today weather it few of them are OK. So you mean the backlight batteries were not discharged ?. So can we just run with one battery if you do not want back light ?

Exactly. The DVD control battery was completely dead, while the other 2 were totally full. I am not sure if it will work with just one physical battery in there. I dont see why not, but I didnt try.

If you look closely once you take the cover off, you'll see a little light with 2 arrows pointing to the backlight batteries. They are the 2 on the right side nearest the edge. (hope that makes sense)

So as Nedrick74 said ,I tested only with the remote battery( removing the two backlight one ) .It s being marked inside the battery compartment which are for the backlights and which are for the remote.
So If you do not care about the backlight ,you can still run on single battery. Also it is quick fix sometimes where your remote battery is dead ,so you can swap the Backlight battery until you buy the new ones.
Another pacifier. Thanks team.

Thanks to YeePee and others for the info. I simply put one of the backlite batteries in the remote location and dad was hero for the day. Price of the battery at the Honda dealership 12.95, I will buy online.

Odyclub rules!

I had the same problem, only one of the 3 batteries was dead. I checked everywhere except online and nobody sold anything like this. I ended up buying 1 from my Honda dealer for $12.95. I wonder why Honda wouldn't design this remote to use AAAA or AAA batteries, it's big enough. But, then that would be too easy.

I ordered a set of the 3032s a few months ago and used some 2032s from the dollar store in the mean time. I cut up a garden hose gasket in the shape of a "C" to keep it from moving and under the contacts.

It's been going strong since and the 3032s are waiting to go in.:D

Yeah I just noticed when i opened for replacement there were small icons on the plastic and that is
what sent me here.

As to one of the above posters, be glad it's not rechargeable that would be even more cost, rechargeable batteries do die. Gonna swap out a backlight for trans battery for the moment.

Thought I'd revise this thread to let folks know that if you live in an area with a Batteries Plus store, they sell these batteries. I just picked up 3 Panasonic brand BR 3032s for $5 each. Not the cheapest price, but still reasonable and there's no waiting for a package to arrive.
