Thanks to all the great advice on here I decided to replace my positive battery cable due to corrosion created by a cracked battery. Everything was going really well until I sheared off the starter terminal post. I'm still looking into this to see what my options are, but does anyone know offhand whether I'm going to be stuck purchasing at least the magnetic switch assembly to get the post?

Update on broken starter terminal

I figured out a workaround. There's a plastic spacer secured to the post with a nut. I removed that and there was enough of the post left to attach the battery cable's starter lug. Anyone know of any ill effects that could arise from this, short or longer term?

2000 Odyssey, 155K miles--runs great.

Haven't looked at my starter lately....but spacers, in general, are used to keep things separated. Must be a reason to keep the cable end displaced a little from the starter solenoid housing....

...just a guess.
