Yo have you tried rocking the vehicle back and forth at the same time turning your steering wheel left and right and working the key at the same time that's always work for me if that's the situation
Can’t turn wheel and can’t turn key

Really need some help. I have a 2006 Odyssey that is about 270KM and the steering wheel and the key will not turn. The wheel will turn only 5 degrees to one end but it’s very hard. I tried moving the wheel while trying two keys, one about 1 year old. Tried slightly hitting the key in, using wd40, moving the key in and out but nothing. The wheel is straight and the steering is I believe in the Center.
Now is there a way to unlock the wheel if I took the panel around the steering out? The bottom panel is difficult to remove. Still trying with that.
Also would this be a cylinder issue or the ignition issue or both? Can the cylinder be fixed if it’s the issue?
I went through all the related posts but nothing works for me.

And also if you have another key that fits the same ignition try that as well move the key around in and out back and forth play with it try and make it make it turn over at the same time turning your steering wheel back and forth make it line up. And question do you have power on the van while you're trying to turn it over ?push the brake down as well all in one motion could prove to be important haven't read all the posts just seen yours I figured I'd put something in on it hope it works out I'll check on you later and see if anything turned out for positively peace out@jackrabbit000 i did that in both directions and still could not get it.
@Buffalo4 i could unlock the shift leaver but that does not help. I started the car with the starter in neutral and was able to drive but with the wheel locked could not go anywhere but straight.
I saw on Amazon the Ignition part for $79. I ordered that so I’ll see how it goes. I did not go for the locksmith $300 since I don’t think they would be able to fix it for long. Also Honda is asking $485 for the part and $200 to program the keys. With this I just need to carry two keys with me all the time. Van has to last me for just 2 more years.
Either worn key or worn key cylinder codingI did the wiggle thing a number of times but that failed. I suspecting the cylinder. Can that be fixed if I happen to get it out without replacing the entire part? I’m hoping to spend the lease amount of $$ on this.

So I replaced the whole ignition and took the immobilizer from the old and put it on the new. The new did not come with one. Now the wheel turns and the key can turn but I can’t start the car. The starter I have starts it. Found that the battery was also bad so it was replaced under warranty but still can’t turn it over. It sounds like the alternator is bad but that was replaced 2 years ago and since the starter can turn it on I’m assuming it’s good. I tried starting the van with the old key next to the new hoping the code will make it work but no. Do I need to reprogram it? I thought the old immobilizer would pick up the old key and work. What am I missing now?

Cranking means turning over. Your post is very confusing. If it starts fine with the remote start then it sounds like everything is good with your battery, starter and alternator. Sounds like your issue is with the new ignition or key. Perhaps an immobilizer issue.
At least you resolved your main issue of not being able to turn the key or the steering wheel. Now you can drive the van.
Sounds like an immobilizer issue to me. The remote starter obviously must bypass the immobilizer to work, which is why it works.It’s cranking but not turning over, not starting. The remote starter starts it.
Do you see the green key light flashing when trying to start?
The immobilizer consists of the little chip that is in the key and an annular receiver ring around the ignition key cylinder that has two wires going to it.
Are you sure that with everything you did that the immobilizer was plugged back in and was not damaged? Is the key with the chip in very close proximity (inches) to the ignition cylinder ?

this is one of the keys that came with the new unit. If I have to reprogram it what gets reprogrammed? I don’t see a chip just the cover and the “pill” looking thing in the middle.

The word programming is a little tricky here. The key does not get programmed to the car, the car gets programmed to the key. So a tool is hooked up to the computer, and it is told to program the key.View attachment 172991

I'd guess your old key isn't close enough. Have you tried breaking open your old key and just getting the chip piece and holding it right next the the key slot?

If you look around on youtube you will find numerous videos pertaining to this very common problem. Most of them suck and won't really help you.
A scan tool is required as far as I know. But you may find a different solution out there. There just very well may be a DIY hack. I simply used my scan tool when I got a new key FOB. Took 30 seconds.

It's more like millimeters. Literally.Is the key with the chip in very close proximity (inches) to the ignition cylinder ?
The specs also call for no other keys (with or without transponders) being anywhere near the new key when doing the immo/key transponder pairing or just simply starting the vehicle.
