Hi, I'm a new member from the UK with 98 shuttle/ody problem on intermittent abs light. I thought i should not re-up an old but helpful thread http://www.odyclub.com/forums/28-1995-1998-odyssey/36761-abs-trouble-codes.html so i start a new one here. I have diagnosed my ody and got this code:

1L 5F P 1L 6F P 1L 7F P 1L 1F 7Xblinks before repeat
(note: L=long, F=fast, P=pause)

I thought it would be #56 and #71 however #56 is not in the code list as reffered to RAx Tuning so now i'm not sure.

Thanks in advance for any help. cheers :)

I don't have information on your model but normally and on my gen 2 the long light is the first digit and the short light is the secon digit. The codes are read out in numeric order, not the order they failed. With that your codes would be 15, 16, 17, 11. 15=RR wheel senser open/short to body ground, 16=RR wheel senser electrical noise, 17 LR wheel senser, RT front senser open/short.

I would reset the sensers, drive until the light comes on and then recheck the codes. Also check the right rear for chafing of the cable.

Thanks Bill.
I've never care about this until now. so it's a new knowledge. What i'll do first is to change the 2 front tyres (they r worn and unevenly inflated.. both have small punctures) and then reset. sifus in here did mention about uneven tyre rotation may cause the abs to light up. cheers

update: I've replaced the 2 front tyres, abs light has not showed up since then.

update:
i have reset the memory. The abs light came up again during long distance high speed driving together with handbrake light. Just after few stops it went off. I took the reading apparently it is the same as before above. Any recommendations?

cheers

i'm sure man....my odc dont have abs...
my mechanic also said the same...
The RA1 came standard with ABS. I don't know if any content deleted ody's were produced.
One way to 'fix' a broken ABS is to entirely remove the ABS!

I prefer to have functioning ABS, so after diagnosing the code, mine was (somewhat) easy to fix by replacing both rear wheel sensors. I used the RAx Tuning link to find my '96 codes.

Shouldn't that be: 15, 16, 17, 117??

One (1) blink followed by:
5 blinks = Right Rear Sensor
6 blinks = Right Rear Sensor
7 blinks = Left Rear Sensor

Left and right rear sensors- that's what I had to fix. Not sure about the last 'P 1L 1F 7Xblinks (117?)'part. I got the best price for these sensors from RockAuto.com, but those old sensors can be a [expletive deleted] to remove!!! Fix the rear sensors first, then recheck the code... like William said!!

Handbrake light on?? Are you driving with the handbrake engaged? That can turn on the ABS. Or is the Brake light indicating low brake fluid??
/- a lot proton car now use abs bro..

Also, I don't know what a 'proton' car is, but I do know that my engine is under the hood, and not the bonnet!! ;)

Thanks kernel. The handbrake indicating light just turns on once in a while not always and it'll go away soon enough. The previous owner did mentioned about this to me. could be low brake fluid will check that before selling my ody (i'm moving to RB1 :)).. and Proton is a malaysian made car.

Malaysianman: i was just messing around. no heart feeling.
