My dad's old Grand Caravan has non-tinted glass, which makes it much easier so see at night (especially backing up at campsites, boat ramps or on the farm). Visibility in the rain during day or night is also much much better. Not to mention how much better it is for vacation sightseeing. All the Odysseys I've seen have tinted glass standard(an option on minivans of yore). Can you request clear side and back glass from Honda, or can the "Glass Dr." replace with clear and buy my tinted?

The tinted sliding door glass would not be too annoying if the window could be rolled down like on the New Mazda MPV. I wonder if we'll see roll-down windows on the '03? I haven't seen it mentioned in all the '02 hubbub. I dragged my feet thrugh 2001 and will order the '02 soon. Family trips in the Sentra are a little too cozy.

It makes me cry to think of giving up my '91 SE-R in trade, but I'm just gonna have to take it like a man. Maybe the 245 horses, discs all-around, better springs, and a ground effects kit will make me feel better. If I could order a loud color from the factory like yellow or lime or metallic copper, I'd be at the dealership right now.

Seriously. Am I the only person here who hates tinted glass. Okay, "hate" is a strong word. I loved it on my '69 Camaro, and it looks cool on limos and vans, but if you're touring Garden of the Gods, or Exotic Animal Paradise, only the folks in the front seat can enjoy it. (not to mention how hard it makes it to back up a trailer at night)

I don't think you will have problem seeing through the tinted windows, at least i don't. The windows are actually not tinted as dark as the limo. It looks very dark around the window but actually it's not as dark in the middle. Seriously, I don't think it would cost any problem sighseeing, I am actually planning to tint over it to make it darker, to protect from heat and UV.

personally, i think the privacy glass is one of the best features on a minivan. anyway, outward visibility is not as bad as you would think although you can replace your backup lamps with more powerful ones which will help a lot. also, the roll-down windows on the mazda MPV only roll down about half-way.

non privacy glass is not made for the odyssey. furthermore, because the glass is shaped and tempered, you could not find someone to make replacement glass in a light tint without spending HUGE dollars.

Ken -

The factory tint is truly one of my favorite things on modern minivans and SUVs. I've had to add film to all my other cars, and then you have to be careful of cleaning and scratching (and stickers, and zippers, and dogs, and kids....). I actually wish they made the Ody glass darker from the factory.

Have you actually sat inside an Odyssey lately? I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how nice the view is from inside. I understand your concerns, and I once had the same ones....but the benefits of the tint FAR outweigh the very slight reduction in visibility at night. During the day, I'd much rather be in the back looking out the tint, than in the front squinting through the clear windows (which I will illegally tint, I'm sure).

Obviously this is very subjective, and answers your question not at all
So to stay on-thread. No, I'm 99.9% sure that you won't be able to find an Ody without the tint.
