Well I got a response from Honda Canada to my letter on why we cannot get RES in Canada. Surprise... surprise.... it doesn't say much, but I have cut the text here for those that are interested.

This will acknowledge and thank you for your letter received on August 30, 2001 regarding the 2002 Honda Odyssey.
We are sorry to hear of your disappointment that the Rear Entertainment System is not available on the 2002 Odyssey models and can assure you of our concern.
We have forwarded your suggestion to our Product Planning Division. They have informed us that the possibility of having the RES available in the Canadian EX-L Odyssey is currently being investigated, but at this time, we are unfortunately unable to confirm when this feathure will be included in the vehicles.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to write to us. We wish to express our gratitude for your support .... blah blah blah.

This was sent from a Dave Arseneau (Customer Relations Specialist).... in case any other Canadians are interested in sending in a letter about this (I can also provide the fax, address and text from my letter to cut and paste).
I was kinda hopeing for an explanation at least as to why they don't offer it here... didn't think it would sell.... didn't think we could meet demand in the US and Canada.... something.
Ah well, doesn't give me a warm fuzzy that Canadian kids will be watching DVD's in their Odysseys anytime soon... guess I will have to wait (and hope) for an '04.
Cheers.... Gary
